Starting off with a BANG!

If this is how the show season is starting off, I'd say it's going to be a pretty dang good winter season!

First show, two entries, and... two wins!

Molly won on Kynynmont Indelibly Irish, owned by Pam Liddell Kynynmont Connemaras, and her her own Diesel Boy from Bonnie Lymont at Novice.

It was a perfect outing. Indie finished on his dressage score of 27 and Leto on a 24.8. Two phenomenal scores!

"Leto was just a little superstar!" said Hannah Metz. "You can really tell how much he's growing up." True statement as he's only five...

Surprisingly Hannah, miss groom/show superstar, was a bit nervous for her first show since the end of the 2011 season. She admits she has a wee bit of anxiety around forgetting things/equipment they might need for the show.

But now that she has gotten the first one over with, she's rockin' and ready to go for the next show (which could very well escalate from two to eight or so horses!).

All of the girls so far are singing the same tune. They love Aiken (I know... hard to fathom...), love the facility, love the weather, love the work... do we sense a common theme here?

"It feels like it's been one long day - in a good way!" said Hannah when describing how she can't believe a week has already passed.

Hannah and her mount Zhen will compete for their first time in Aiken at Paradise Farm beginner novice. Then they will decide if they should move up to novice. Though she admits - for herself, she can only comprehend one show at a time as there is so much more to think about in Aiken!

The Havarah crew will be attending a local jumper show this weekend, so stay tuned for those updates!

Lights, Camera, AIKEN!

Well it was a week ago today that the first load of horses left PA to make the journey South. Now, all 17 horses have arrived safely and happily in Aiken, SC.

Robyn Weaver was kind enough to be my eyes and ears for the first week settling into the beautiful and hospitable Pine Ridge Stables.

"I was so blown away," Robyn said. "I wasn’t expecting it to be this nice… I mean I wasn’t expecting it to be crappy, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this nice."

She admitted it did take a couple of days for the horses to settle in. She assures no one was going crazy, but they were a little wound up after the long trip. Let's be honest, the Aiken veterans probably were just overjoyed to run around in the warm sun! Sabrina - we all know you are spending the majority of your day sprawled out, sunbathing.

So far, and this is a little difficult with more horses than stalls, the hardest part was figuring out how to switch turnout. Yes, when one learns how to juggle horses, she can conquer the world!

Now the routine is 7 horses are in all night, and 10 are out all night, this then switches during the day.

The first couple of days were full or walking out horses and hacks - the best way to acclimate especially with the beautiful, sandy hacking trails Pine Ridge has to offer. But when those seem outdated.. there's always Hitchcock Woods.

The Havarah crew has literally used and abused Hitchcock trails - they have been there four days in a row! Robyn described how they ride out on one long trail from where they park, but then end up on Ridge Mile Track. In the middle of the loop there is pretty much free cross-country schooling, complete with brush jumps.

Robyn said her leading man, Fabio, is doing really well. She was so excited because the first time she took him out on a hack, he was so calm and cool and didn’t jig the entire time on the way back. Furthermore, he was apparently phenomenal at Hitchcock woods

She and Fabio will make their Aiken debut on February 18th at Paradise Farm. She says she is just excited to learn how to relax when riding and competing - not over analyzing everything. Robyn's already basking in the relaxed, Southern mentality.

Relaxing? Horses? OK, yes I used those two words in the same sentence but really Aiken is relaxing. Don't get me wrong it's also A LOT of work - but that's just it, work doesn't feel like work - it's really all play!

OK ya, they start at 6:45 a.m., feed, muck, switch turnout - but then by 11 a.m. they get to trailer off to some new venue and ride till their hearts are content!

“It doesn’t really feel like work, even when you’re mucking stalls you’re not like God I can’t wait to just be done!” Robyn said. "I’m just so excited to be here, I was really actually kinda worried that I would get like homesick or something but I don’t even really think about home.”

Leto and Indie will start the show season off at Full Gallop this Wednesday at the novice level. Robyn admits it will be nice only having two horses going as she needs to get back in the swing of shows.

Yes, there are sure to be ups and downs, but everyone seems to be stepping up to the plate and just getting their work done. Robyn relates how easy it really was to transition, and how everyone just gets along so easily.

2 Trips Down, One to Go!

Well at 3 a.m. Kara and I began the routine wrapping and switching out blankets for coolers, and detailing out the horse's halters with fuzziness.

Then, we loaded 10 horses: Benny, Carson, Rivan, Smiley, Fabio, Zhen, Piney, Leto, Toulousse and Sabrina, on a van to Aiken. All the horses thank goodness were phenomenal to load (they must have sensed I am NOT a morning person so they best be on good behavior ;) ).

Then, a short 12 hours later or so, they arrived in Aiken! Molly says the pastures and stalls are magnificent - and as you will see in a photo shortly following - they girls seem to be happy in their new, sunny atmosphere.

Aiken or Bust!

So I think I'm standing alone when I say I'm a little upset right now.

Rob is excited because he won't have to muck as many stalls for two months.

Kara will have less horses stressing her out and she can re-grow the grass in the paddocks.

The girls are all hyped for a new adventure.

Molly is ready to get some more miles on the upper level horses and is excited to start the new ones.

And I'm sad why?

In about 10 hours Molly, Robyn, Hannah and Maddie will load up the first four horses and leave us here in PA for the warm, southern hospitality that is Aiken, SC.

I'm going to miss them! But enough of the boo-hoo. Aiken is such an exciting adventure and it seems like each year Molly's business grows and this year a whopping 18 horses are heading south!

They will leave at 4 a.m. with the first group and the destination is Pine Ridge Stables and the luxurious 10-stall barn. Yup, they upgraded this year.

The second load will leave in a van on Tuesday (10 horses) and the last trailer will leave Thursday.

The trailer is all packed and ready to roll, and Bubba (Molly's trooper of a truck) will have to just make it over one big hill and then it's smooth sailing to South Carolina.

It snowed this weekend, and we aren't expecting a blizzard like the one that made the trip a bit interesting last year, so hopefully the trip goes off without a hitch.

To my Havarah Team: Have the best time. Learn tons! Enjoy two months of shows, schoolings, lessons and hacks and we'll see you when you get back!

To our readers: No worries, I will be stalking the girls to be constantly in-the-know so ya'll will be continually updated on all the Southern fun!

R.I.P. Brio

Unfortunately Havarah lost one of it's teammates today, and Kim Parisan lost a very dear friend.

Brio belonged to Kim Parisan, Maddie's mom, and they, together galloped around many cross country courses and shared many wonderful eventing memories.

Brio was a chestnut, quarter horse, gelding with a big old white blaze. Although dressage was always a little bit of a struggle, Kim and Brio could dominate in the jumper ring and galloped cross country with ease.

In fact, at the Cecil County Fair this past summer, Brio and Kim racked in the ribbons!

As horse-lovers, we all know that a time like this is more than losing a pet, it's losing a best friend. That being said our hearts go out to Kim and we all have you and Brio in our thoughts.

Brio passed away this afternoon. The cause is unknown but we believe it was quick and he didn't suffer. I've attached some photos of Kim and Brio's career so everyone could remember him fondly.

A Long Awaited Welcome

Towards the end of the summer we got a new working student here at Havarah. Her name is Robyn Weaver.

I don't know how Molly finds such amazing people to work at the barn - but I'm surely grateful she has such a keen eye because Robyn is the perfect addition to the Havarah clan.

At 18, Robyn recently graduated from High School and decided to put school on hold to further her knowledge and experience in horses.

Molly told me Robyn's first day would be on one of my working weekends, and I'm not going to lie - I was greatly impressed right off the bat.

Robyn stepped right up to the plate instantly and when I gave her the job of cob webbing... oh man she cobwebbed the barns spotless!

There was no explaining the necessity of scrubbing water buckets, or why we are as anal about the little things as we are - she just easily molded into the flow of how things work around here which was so great.

Robyn's relaxed, drama-free, can-do attitude it delightfully refreshing to be around. She really puts you at ease when working with her because she is so mellow and is just an absolutely sweet, kind-hearted person.

So, how did Robyn's role at Havarah come to be? Well we have to back up a few years for this....

The girl has been around horses her entire life. I know, most of us have, but literally her parents met while they were both working students at a farm when they were teenagers. Adorable.

The family tree in the eventing scene is pretty cool. Her dad was in pony club and evented up to intermediate while her mom evented up to prelim level. The family started a breeding farm in the 90's and operated it for about 10 years- this is the farm of which Robyn has always lived. Robyn's dad is one of our county's wonderful vets.. thus might be why Robyn is so smart!

Robyn hopped in the saddle as a toddler around 2 or 3 and rode with her mom at home until she was about 7. When she was 10, after a little break from riding, she got a job with Betsy and Ronnie Houghton at Sylmar Farm where she worked till age 15. She started galloping horses for them at 13, and got the opportunity to ride a pony, Ode for Joy, allowing her to win 3 out of 4 pony races! Thus her NEED FOR SPEED!!

When she was 16 she got another job at a breeding farm where she was she and another rider where in charge of all the under saddle work. THEN she came over to Havarah- there won't be another job title after this one, as we wont let her leave here!

Robyn's mom, who was her main trainer at the time, suggested Robyn start to take lessons from Molly. Robyn, who had only completed a phew starter trials having never been serious about eventing, wanted to know more about the sport. Mom's do seem to always know best.

It didn't take long for her to join the Havarah team after falling in love with Molly's very patient and excellent instruction.

Her mount Stare Daggers, or "Fabio", now resides at Havarah and Robyn hopes to take him training by the end of the year. Fabio was originally a re-sell project, but alas Robyn fell in love so now he has a permanent home with her.

In addition to her own horse, Robyn other current obsession is Rio, who is a Clydesdale, Thoroughbred, Connemara cross. She loves how intuitive he is and his willingness to learn.

Robyn will go down to Aiken with Molly, Hannah and Maddie where I'm sure she will have a blast and learn so much just as we all do in Aiken. So for all you eventers going South for the winter make sure to stop by the trailer and meet Robyn! I'm sure she will make you smile!

The Cavalry Meets Havarah

Well this is an exciting, somewhat sad, but most of all interesting turn of affairs for one dedicated working student at Havarah.

As you all may remember, Hannah decided to lease Zhen and in turn sell her young mare, Anna's Band.

Anna sold today - which Hannah admits was exciting but was not an event void of tears - but to a true "first" kind of client of Havarah.

Anna will now spend her days as a Cavalry horse. Yup, I'm talking old school, Civil War, reenactment style.

She is trading in the fancy dressage braids and cross country courses for going to war, charging through rivers and standing in lines of noble horses ready to defend our country - or at least - help others reminisce in a pivotal moment in our country's history.

How this all came to be? I told Hannah she was a lucky girl because in horses, this happens once in a blue moon....

David Milly, saw Anna on www.dreamhorse.com and called Molly with major interest. He said he was looking for a horse to do Civil War reenactments on and Molly apparently said let's give it a go!

He came to look at Anna yesterday and Hannah said it was pretty hysterical watching Molly ride Anna around the ring, neck reining and doing all sorts of moves us eventing folk go to rodeos to see.

After countless "interesting" questions about Anna - like "has she been around many flags??" etc - it was apparent David was interested in this pretty, doe-eyed, gray mare.

He asked Molly to come by today, he wanted to bring his Captain to see this outstanding mare, but seemed to have already made up his mind seeing as he came with a truck and trailer attached.

He brought his old-school saddle to try on Anna, and she did not seem a bit phased. Hannah said she knew it was a deal when he went walking around the field, and came galloping back with a HUGE smile on his face.

So, the sale was set, and Miss Anna Banana was loaded on the trailer today and sent off to her new, and I must say rather exciting, home.

It was not without some sadness from Hannah. She sad it was sad to see her "baby girl go" but she is very excited to begin her eventing career with Zhen in Aiken (they plan to move up to novice at Pine Top!).

You may see this little girl if you visit the reenactments in Gettysburg - we are all sure she will be oh so happy with her new life and well-loved.

We'll miss you Anna's Band, enjoy your new home and we can't wait to see you staring in your new role!

A Havarah Christmas Tale

Night check is done.

And all stockings are hung by their stalls with care.

The ponies are tucked in, exhausted from a long day of fun.

Wrapped in cozy blankets, so not to raise a hair.

All 26 horses wait on the edge of their seats.

Hoping they have been nice and not naughty.

Praying that Santa does not only deliver to those who walk on two feet.

Keeping their eyes open, but their vision's getting spotty.

Waiting to catch a glimpse of this man red

But alas, morning will come, the sun will shine through

Not a whinny would have been said

And what is in their stockings but a new shoe!

Another Cali Transplant

Today the crew welcomed Cooper from way out West! But this time, we got a Cali transplant that's a horse!

Cooper belongs to the Hulmes' daughter, Sophie, and for those of you who don't know who the Hulmes are, they own Principia stables which is where Havarah calls home!

Two Irish Sport Horse mares now occupy the majority of Sophie's time back in California, so Cooper has traveled coast to coast to hang with us at Principia.

"Coup de Ville" was Sophie's main man from 2008 through 2009 and he took her beginner novice and novice.

He just arrived today and is a) wondering "why is it so cold?" and b) why was that such a long trailer ride? Needless to say Coup will be chilling for a while as he traveled probably about 3,000 miles this past week.

Other than this new addition, we at Havarah are just gearing up for the holidays and excited for the Hulmes' arrival this weekend! We always love having them around and they will be here for Christmas and through the new year.

So happy holidays everyone!

P.S. Molly is really excited for her first Christmas tree - it has yet to be decorated but it's glorious.

A New Pair is Born!

Riding horses can be very unpredictable, but in a very good way. An ideal horse/rider situation sometimes just pops out of thin air when you least expect it - and you never know when you might establish a bond with a special horse. That is the beauty of it all!

I'm happy to announce that Hannah has recently decided to lease Zhen!

It has been a pair in the making for some time but became official after Hannah took Zhen cross country schooling a couple weeks ago.

Hannah is extremely excited with this new development and is ready to rock and roll! Molly is always happy when she is able to find a great match for her students. So look out for Hannah Metz aboard this Warmblood/Paint cross in Aiken where they will start competing!

Hannah will lease Zhen for three months (till February) and upon the end of her lease Zhen will either be back up for sale or Hannah will determine if the partnership should become a permanent one.

In addition, Hannah's current mare, Anna's Band, is now on the market!

Anna is a 5-year-old, 16h, dappled grey, OTTB mare. Anna has been at Havarah for just over a year where she has learned a lot from Hannah and Molly.

This pretty girl has competed up to novice and would be the perfect eventing or hunting prospect for someone who would like a project.

Anna really is a very sweet, willing mare who loves to jump! If you're interested email molly@mollyrosin.com. She's currently priced at $5,000.

Congrats Steve!

Dr. Steve Berkowitz had, like any horse-shopper looking for the perfect mount, a few requirements for a future horse.

1) Bay... and I mean bay. No white markings, just straight up brown!

2) Tall - Steve is no short stack.

3) It HAD to be a thoroughbred.

4) Something fancy enough to beat out Bryce (Molly's boyfriend).

Finding the perfect horse can take months, even years. Even so, one may end up with a horse that isn't necessarily the mount they thought they wanted, or maybe you might have to make some compromises based on budget etc.

Nope. Steve got exactly what he wanted, and it couldn't have worked out any more perfectly.

Steve purchased Pockets from Patricia Vos who has a farm in VA. She takes in OTTBs and trains them into event horses - Pockets was just meant to be Steve's future eventing partner.

Being a vet, Steve has always been fascinated by and devotes his life and career to taking care of horses. With the growing "man team" at Havarah, Steve found himself wanting to be part of the man fun.

Thus, he borrowed some half chaps and boots and hopped back on the horses with the intent of finding his own.

Molly says Pockets and Steve could not be a more perfect pair. It's like Steve acquired a custom-fit horse and they are absolutely adorable together.

Nancy and Alyssa Klavens

We hear of many selfless people in this world. Those who are always pushing others to succeed, donating funds when they can, and boosting you up when you are down.

These people are called: owners.

The life of a professional horse-back-rider is not parallel to that of a professional football player. There isn't the glitz and the glamour, or parties and bling. More like mud and sweat, blood and tears - and we just keep coming back for more.

You fall off, you get back on - doesn't matter that you just fell into a ditch at the last show, there is the next one to prepare for - you have a sponsorship to uphold, and people to impress, but you are working with a variable object: a horse. A live animal.

So Molly is fortunate to have wonderful owners. Ones who understand horses, and understand that she, and they, are not always going to be perfect.

The Klavens are some of those amazing owners.

Nancy Klavens grew up obsessed with horses. As a child, she got her hands on every horse novel she could find from National Velvet to the Black Stallion. It is no wonder that her daughter, Alyssa, caught the bug.

The family has had horses for over 15 years. Alyssa says they started with a horse for her sister, then one for her, and then one for her mom.

While Alyssa's sister found joy outside of the horse world, Alyssa knew it was where she wanted to be. Soon after she started taking lessons, Alyssa became enthralled with the sport of eventing.

She bought Puttin' on the Ritz "Benny" in 2007 when he was just over a year old. Whereas her first horses were school-masters, her last three have been under the age of two as she has always enjoyed working with younger horses and watching them learn and grow.

Alyssa fell in love with Benny because he has a certain personality. She never wanted a boring horse and she definitely didn't get one. She describes him as a horse you have to develop a bond and relationship with if you want to be successful. He can be the sweetest horse in the world but he also keeps you on your toes. When everything clicks, she says it is the most wonderful feeling in the world, especially because he doesn't click with everyone.

Both Nancy and Alyssa always wanted to see Benny succeed, and recognized his true potential. Alyssa never saw him as a buy and re-sell project, she wanted to watch him grow and reach the top. However, being in college she realized she didn't have as much time as it would require to train him.

She wound up leasing him for a while with the intention of selling him - hoping someone would bond with him and find the same potential that she always saw and believed in. However, many tried, and unfortunately failed.

A good neighbor of ours, Roddy Strang, recommended Alyssa bring Benny to Molly. Initially, Benny came to Havarah to sell - but it became very apparent to all of us that there was something in this horse. I don't know what it was, he was just intriguing.

We were fortunate enough to have Benny come down to Aiken, SC with us, and it was there our thoughts were confirmed this horse proved to be a natural confident event horse.

So I guess the question still stands... why do owners front the bill and allow professional riders to ride their horses without much financial gain in return?

"Its been amazing to watch him compete!" Alyssa said. "I always felt like Benny's abilities were limitless if you were willing to work with him, and its so wonderful to see him start reaching toward his potential. Every time I get to see him, whether at a lesson, hacking, or a competition, I can see how much he's learned since the previous time. Even though I'm not the one riding him, I am so proud of what Molly has been able to accomplish with him."

This is why horse people are a certain "breed". Whether we are gutless, nuts, or just like to spend money - our horses are our children, our best friends, our partners in life, and to see them flourish is like a proud mother watching her child graduate kindergarten, enter middle school, graduate high school, and then enter the real world after college.

Most importantly, I think it's really important to find the right owner-rider combination. Alyssa recognized early on that Molly and Benny established a great relationship, and this was important to her.

"Molly has a way of understanding the individual horse's need and adjusting her riding style as needed. She has a rare combination of ability, patience, and the humility to understand that she never stops learning from others," Alyssa said. I think one of the most important qualities in a trainer is the understanding that horses learn at their own pace. Molly never tries to push a horse past its ability just for the sake of a competition or a sale. I have never heard her label a horse as "bad", rather she looks for the root of problems, whether its mental or physical. She is all about the horse's needs. In addition, she is an integral part of these horses lives. Horses are not solely her "business". Molly's dedication goes past just riding each horse, she makes an effort to bond with each of them on the ground. In that way, she understands more about their individual personalities."

Sorry for the long quote but I really couldn't have said it better myself. Alyssa, Nancy, Molly and of course Mr. Benny, vibe well together, and this is what makes this relationship so much fun.

Alyssa and Nancy's plans for Benny are really flexible at this point. Alyssa wouldn't dream of changing anything as long as Benny is still happy with Molly and after years of trying to figure out what he wants to do in life, she's just amazed to see him succeed.

Alyssa says that for so many years, people just labeled Benny as bad, and she would defend how sweet he could be. She is so happy to have found a place who recognizes and realizes not only his potential, but his potential sweetness. After all, he's her 1,200 pound baby (aren't they all!).

We love Benny for who he his and are excited for his international level debut which we are sure he has the potential for!

We appreciate you not only as owners, but as people, and we are always thankful for the wonderful people horses bring into our lives.

Havarah's Blue Light Special!

I can almost smell the turkey roasting in the oven, taste the tangy gravy and am continuously dreaming about the fluffy mashed potatoes.

Then, it won't be long until the snow falls and we are hearing the ringing bells of Christmas and lighting the candles of the Menorah.

Sabrina has all the pieces to be a NAYRC Gold medal winner, nothing would make Molly happier than to see her new rider on the podium. This mare just began Intermediate late in 2011, in 2012 I think all the pieces are going to come together. She has fabulous movement for dressage and is a super honest jumper.

Hello all!

I'm in between spoiling the beans and getting you all stoked! But... I'm too excited about this one.

In the coming weeks we are going to take a break from the horses... well kinda... and talk about their OWNERS.

We have some wonderful owners here at Havarah and Molly wouldn't be on such wonderful mounts with out their dedication and support of her and their horses.

We have enjoyed so many laughs and memorable moments with all of them and we are going to share a little about them and less about their lovely animals.

Havarah Updates

Ankhe Pass has sold! He went to a wonderful new home here in Kirkwood, PA (so he's still a local!).

Besty and Steve Harris are the lucky new owners- Ankhe and the Harris's will spend their days enjoying the countryside out FOX HUNTING! You may know them as the family who raises all of Andrews Bridge's awesome hounds AND super cute Border Terriers.

Ankhe will now get to live out his life long dream: running and jumping!

John Nunn's daughter's horse, Maiden, has also sold and will now spend her time being a teacher to Kristin Scali. Kristin rode as a teenager but now spends most of her time being mother to her young child. But Kristin is getting back in the tack! Maiden will be teaching Kristin some more dressage and will enjoy a luxurious life of trail-riding... until that is Maiden convinces her that jumping is oh so much fun! Maiden will be in good hands as Kristin rides with Molly's good friend and fellow CWD rider, Erin Sylvester.

These two horses are wonderful citizens and will be greatly missed from the Havarah team but we are confident they have lovely new homes and will be oh so happy there!

This past weekend the Havarah crew hopped on over to Unicorn Farm for a starter trial put on by St. Augustine Pony Club. Molly loves taking the horses here because it is not only beautiful, but the footing is phenominal. Hannah and Bryce rocked it at their first novice, Kim successfully completed her first training, and Zia and Zhen entered the eventing world at beginner novice.

Our newest working student, Robyn, competed beginner novice as well, and Adrianne competed Doctor for the very first time! Molly says it was the perfect way to end the 2011 season!

Unfortunately, I must report that Miss Maddie had a fall at her house today and broke her collar bone. She should be just fine with some surgery and rest, however!

Paints on Parade!

We have two wonderful sisters for sale here at Havarah: Zhen and Alpine a.k.a. Piney!

Piney is a 4 year old warmblood/pinto mare from Rainbow and Olypmic Ferro breeding. In case you may not be familiar with these names this means SUPER jumping and dressage bloodlines. Perfect event horse poss??

This young mare is very inquisitive and brave. She has not said one "no" to Molly out schooling cross country and she was tied for first at Loch Moy at beginner novice. Her ambitions are novice in 2012 with potential for much, much more!

Besides just her potential... Piney is a super sweet horse and gets along with others (she's bff's with my mare so I'm partial to this one!). If you're looking for a young prospect, this is your girl!

Zhen is a 7 year old warmblood/pinto out of the same breeding as Piney (Rainbow and Olympic Ferro). Yup, they are full sisters!

Though, 100% related, these two only look alike in their coloring. Zhen is much thicker than Piney who has more of a slender physique.

Zhen has some experience in the hunter/jumper world but would be the perfect match for a lower level eventer or hunter rider.

This mare's sweet disposition is hard to beat as she just wants to be your best friend. The more you pet her, the happier she is!

Zia the Princess Warrior

Ok, that's not her ACTUAL show name - but wouldn't it be awesome!?

This little, talented mare is for sale!

She is a 4 year old TB mare, 15 hands, athletic, and cute as a button. She is a blood-bay, with a very pretty and interesting marking on her face. I'll call it a blaze - but check out the pics to see!

She has just started competing but is ready for more! Molly is confident she could be doing novice and jumpers shows by next year (two months away) but has the ability for training and beyond.

Zia has a lovely natural suspension to her step and is very well balanced over fences at an early age. With her eager to please behavior combined with her outstanding work ethic she's shown real promise as either an event horse or a jumper!

Fun in Kentucky

The crew arrived back from their long trip to Kentucky around 11 p.m. Sunday night. Man what a trek!

From the photos and reports it looks like it was a great weekend for our friends at Havarah. It was quite a crew that ventured to the bluegrass state. Molly, Robin, Kathy and Quinn Anderson, Nancy Winnings, and Nancy and Alyssa Klavens.

This was Miss Quinn's first large road trip competing and she handled it like a rock star from Molly's reports. She rode the best she's ever ridden at a show with an improved dressage and beautiful stadium round.

Nancy rode her mare, Violet, in their second training competition and with a clean cross country round they finished 7th individually and 6th as a team.

Benny, competing prelim, just continues to prove himself and show Molly his true potential. Molly was able to notice him mentally mature from just Thursday through Sunday so this obviously was a huge deal for him.

Unfortunately Spritely, who was competing in the 1* as well, met her nemisis at a triple brush but she will hang out at home and compete at training level for a few more well-deserved years with her owner, Quinn and they will tackle young riders as a team when they are both old enough!

A little Belated - Baby Leto at Fair Hill!

Last Thursday was a proud moment in my book when I opened up Eventing Nation to do my normal Fair Hill stalking when I saw it - low-and-behold there was Molly riding Baby Leto in the 4 y.o. YEH division. I almost screamed in the middle of the work place and might I say - he's not a baby anymore!

I watched the beautiful test unfold, and I must be truthful by saying I haven't seen Leto go in AWHILE! He has matured so beautifully. Consistency followed by lovely action from behind truly shows this horse's full potential.

Molly said she hasn't been on a horse who was so confident at a large spectacle of an event since Charly - which brings us all to a sentimental state.

Molly and Leto rounded out the weekend fabulously ending up in 6th place. Check out these fantastic photos courtesy of Shannon Brinkman and enjoy the growing up of our baby boy!

Molly, Robin, and Quinn are now off to Lexington Kentucky to compete Benny and Sprite in the 1*. So stay tuned for some bluegrass updates!

Tux has been Shipped FedEx - Literally

Hold on, let me take a moment to compose myself and hold back the tears... Tux has sold.

But these are happy tears - because he is going to a WONDERFUL new home. As always, it's hard to see them go, I mean they are family - I see their hungry faces every night at night check. Maddie, Hannah and Robin make them glisten everyday and Kara makes sure every one is happy, well-fed and has all four legs. Lastly, Molly creates a bond through training and competing these horses. So when one leaves, everyone feels a little sad.

But as I say in every post of this nature, that tinge of sadness is always replaced with happiness and excitement for our past Havarah team members. They are moving onto wonderful futures with wonderful people - we are truly grateful that we have managed to sell our horses to such great homes.

The new fabulous home is in Malibu, CA - come on Tux really? Jealous. Like these Irish Connemara's really need to sunbath - apparently Tux and Archie had a discussion about enjoying the finer things in life.

Tux flew out yesterday via FedEx accompanied by a handsome stud (he's a stallion) from Hilltop farm who also decided to leave the East and move out West.

He arrived in the hands of Ofer Shepher, his new owner. He apparently went on his first trail ride today and was on the buckle like such a gentleman.

Ofer trains with Michelle Emermann, an advanced level event rider who also spent some time in Europe. She'll watch over and train the pair, hopefully eventing Tux herself at a few events.

Ofer and Michelle spent an entire weekend with us at Principia and are truly wonderful people. They really care about their horses and Molly is so excited our little boy is in such good hands.

"It's exciting to develop these horses out here where we are lucky enough to have lots of natural schooling opportunities so that they are ready to have good fun lives with their new owners," Molly said.

We all feel the same way. We all get a sense of pride when we watch these horses develop. It's like watching your children grow up and mature in school, but it is so rewarding to send them off to college.

Tux will have a very successful eventing career on the Wast Coast and will be well-loved we are sure.

Now, on to develop more great Connemara's and eventing horses for you and your friends!

Maryland Horse Trials Quick Wrap

It truly was the domination of the mares this past weekend at the Maryland Horse Trials.

With Piny winning in her beginner novice division and Sprite taking home 4th preliminary - it was hard to deny the serious girl power which rounded out the weekend.

The boys still put in good performances. Doctor had a fantastic show jump round and gained some compliments from high profiled on-lookers.

Indy had a great weekend and was fabulous through all three phases, just had a couple of unfortunate rails in stadium but he still rounded out the weekend in the top ten - as usual for him.

The men of Havarah also had great weekends. Bryce, John Nunn and Andy made up the "dream team" this weekend and though no one took home the blues they all had very positive, fun weekends.

We will say goodbye to Tux tomorrow as he, at 9 a.m., will set out for his new journey and life in California (following in his brother Archie's footsteps!).

Eventing is not only demanding of us riders, but is extremely demanding of our horse's physical abilities, especially at the upper levels. So it is a no brainer that they need a little R&R sometimes.

Molly has always been diligent about checking horses legs, wrapping with poultice or a Back on Track wrap when necessary - but a few certain characters at our farm have been lucky enough to experience the AquaPacer and salt water spa.

Cough, cough! Sabrina and Charly.... but again, these two athletes deserve the H20 Therapy as they are upper level competitors, and let's face it, we want them to last!

"I've had three horses use the aqua-pacer and all three are better competitors than they were before their time on the aqua-tred. I feel like the aqua pacer is very beneficial for strengthening areas of the horses bodies that are tough to target under saddle. All three horses felt stronger on the flat and over fences. Havarah's Charly and Sprite developed their collected canter from the use of this machine and Sabrina's jumping form drastically improved... I'm a big fan!" Molly Rosin

When Charly gets his therapy sessions, those who work at the Therapy Center are always excited to see him- Olympico was his standard nickname! He's a regular. Sabrina, has taken easily to the therapy. Shocker. She absolutely LOVES it-being pampered is right up her alley. Sprite also got a few goes on the pacer, and as smart as she is, she took right to it. Luckily the crew at FHTC are exceptional with horses, a few times with BIG TONY and the horses look at the facility like a dream palace... which it sort of is!

Basically it is an above-ground treadmill with controllable water levels to allow horses a large range of motion with less impact than regular work. The AquaPacer also promotes more bone and cartilage development. It helps reduce the risk of injury AND helps in the rehabilitation process for those horses who have suffered injuries.

Havarah's team in development

As a horse trainer and professional rider my life seems to be constantly evolving. I love this as, there's never any time to get bored! This year I've had some wonderful things come about. The biggest and most helpful has been the feeling of stability. I'm now training and managing "Principia Stables", a fabulous facility in Kirkwood, Pa owned by the Andrew, Allison and Sophie Hulme. This has allowed me to really help horses develop because now I have the facilities for them to train out of.

So this year I started with a group of horses in training, some had a year of eventing under their belt and others were JUST starting. Now I've got a solid Intermediate mare, 3 at Preliminary and more coming up the ranks in BN, N and Training (depending on who sells this week!)

Im excited about many of them but currently the most proud of Sabrina. This mare gives it all she's got all the time. She started out as a horse that was too hot for the dressage world so she came to eventing. Then eventers werent sure if she'd make it all the way or not. Im not saying it's been all blues all the way- but I can feel that I have a solid horse under me that wants to do well.

This last weekend at Morven didnt pan out for us, but it doesnt matter. She'll get a well deserved break after a long season and I can not wait for next year.

As for me and the others its show time! Maryland Horse Trials this coming weekend with Prelim horses on down to BN. We will be bringing out our MAN team of John Nunn, Andrew Goodwin and Bryce Kinnamon... so all you single ladies look out, well not fully two of them are TAKEN!! :)

Quick Morven Recap

Molly, Quinn, and Maddie packed up and headed to Morven Park on Friday to give Sabrina another run at Intermediate and Quinn a go at Novice.

Molly had a great dressage ride on Sabrina scoring a 36 and only had a couple rails stadium on a very sloppy course due to mother nature's persistent rain.

Molly was hoping to use Morven as a stepping stone to qualify Sabrina for the Dansko Fair Hill International CCI2* this October, however Sabrina didn't feel quite right so Molly decided to withdraw from cross country.

Sabrina will now get a well-deserved break and will aim for the Jersey Fresh 2* in May. She'll of course start back up in Aiken but now gets to hang out and be a horse for a little bit.

Molly's students, Quinn and Nancy, on the other hand both had some good rides making Molly a very proud trainer this past weekend.

A big weekend at Plantation CIC

IF you weren't at the Plantation Field CIC International and HT you missed quite the weekend. The community really seems to have gathered together to provide an amazing event from a riders perspective and a spectators point of view. Although I was in the HT so I didnt get to enjoy it, the CIC riders had an amazing new arena to enjoy dressage and Show jumping on... thank you Iron Spring Farm for that very generous donation!

I competed the wonder mares, Sprite and Sabrina. Neither one received the gold but in my heart they are getting closer and closer to medals. Sabrina gave me a great dressage test, getting a 29.5 in her second Intermediate start! She is just getting better and better. The show jumping is her toughest phase and we rode on the grass hill, not suited to helping us! We had rails down, but I still feel her jumping style is so much improved, one day soon, clean rounds will be normal for her. Cross country day at Plantation was hair raising to say the least. For whatever reason, a coffin complex, that has been there forever, caused a lot of grief. Luckily everyone that fell ended up ok. I was one of the falls on Wonder Pony, Sprite. This was mentally tough for me to get past when I rode Sabrina and although she was being foot perfect everywhere, my mind got the best of me and I pulled her to a stop at the in of the coffin. After re-grouping mentally I gave it a second shot and she was so honest and wonderful. I cant fault this mare across the country.

Sprite was a bit more excited this event for dressage than our last time out, but she managed a pretty nice show jumping round on a course that was causing plenty of difficulty. Cross country day she was ready to go- for the first part of the course she had some great fences- until the coffin. Before the coffin was a big hedge in the woods, Sprite jumped this so nicely, then as we came out of the woods towards the coffin I thought we had a great line and set up - but in hindsight I think that she didnt see that there was things behind this vertical tall log (ditch, etc). As she jumed the log, she mustve seen the ditch and the front legs just didnt get up high enough. Luckily for my great air vest as I landed back first on the side of the ditch, I was safe. These vests are truely a must have. It's Monday as I'm writing this, two days after the fall and although a massage sounds great- I'm really ok. Its amazing.

Luckily Sprite is ok as well, she seems mostly dissapointed that she didnt get to finish her round, she LOVES to jump. I told her there's another xc run for her soon, but first we have some practicing to do!

A trainers delight....

Im back... again!

In my last post I forgot to mention one of the most rewarding parts of my week at the AEC's. Last year I sent a student to the AEC's, I was not able to attend but my student was golden with or without me. Last year Marissa Hughes won the Junior Training aboard her mighty horse Odie. This year Havarah was proud to be connected to another winner. Collin Reynolds and her wonderful horse MIDAS won the Junior Preliminary Championships. Collin is a dear friend of mine at this point because she has moved on to go off to college, I call her a friend and no longer "student". I hope to have her back in the barn by summer time (maybe even winter breaks!!) but for now she is a "student" at SMU in Texas. Collin has grown into a wonderful woman and has so many years of hard work behind her she earned every prize she won this last weekend. (I think there were a LOT of prizes!!)

Thoughts and reflections on the AEC's

Greetings everyone! I am home from a fabulous week. That sentance really sums up our experience but since you weren't there I'll try my best to expand on how and why things were so great.

First of all, as an eventer, I lead a busy life. This means that sometimes to get all the horses worked and prepared for their events some things get sacrificed. I felt like I got to spend some quality time with my great clients, LONG LOST friends and fantastic sponsors. We had a good time, not too crazy, but just a lot of laughs and shared moments.

Secondly, as an eventer we work hard, and it's so wonderful when all this work gets recognized. I've been teaching John Nunn and his wonderful mount Smilelikeyoumeanit for a few years now. John is probably the busiest person I know, but this year he has really buckled down with his riding. This all came to fruition for him as he was recognized for his outstanding cross country riding from Charles Owens. WAY TO GO JOHN!!
Speaking of working hard, Miss Maddie has been with me since Aiken this winter and comes to the barn nearly 6 days a week, rides a lot and is all about learning about the whole process. This girl makes me so proud. I love when a youth has a determination about something and gets it done. She above and beyond achieved her goal of going training level in 2011 and qualifying for the AEC's. At 13 years old, she was amazing to watch.

Thirdly, I have some amazing horses for the future. I brought along Puttin on the Ritz and Rivan for a grand experience. Tents, flags, MUSIC, loudspeaker, CROWDS, etc etc. They got all of it and I feel like they will be so much better off now when they go to their first FEI competition. Benny is a jumping machine, dressage is coming along, but for 6 years old, I am so pleased. Rivan, if you've seen him you know that words cant express his desire to please or clear everything. This guy came to us as a second career and he is really taken to eventing.

Last but not least Hannah Metz and Kynymonts Indelibly Irish were the stars of the show. Indy is such a special horse, one of the horses we have for sale. He put in a class act performance in all three phases finishing behind the leader by .5 faults. Indy has only been competing for less than a year and Hannah helped this guy get used to the atmosphere with lots of love. This girl has a thing with horses, if they need a "helper" she is always there, they love her. Especially Indie... however, when he sells I'm not letting her go with him!

Thank you to Kim and Steve for all the help this last week, and thank you to Kara and Robyn for keeping all the horses at home in top notch shape.

On to a big weekend at Plantation Field... come and watch the Wonder Woman and Wonder Pony in the Intermediate and Preliminary divisions.

Molly and Clyde stopped by to visit the Omega Alpha booth

I have said it a few times and I will say it again: The AEC was a blast! Thank you to all of those who made this event happen: The USEA, Nutrena, Bit of Britain, Chattahoochee Hills and all of the volunteers... thank you!

Molly rode a double clear stadium round on Indie yesterday moving her into fourth place in the Novice Horse division. She was all smiles as she lined up for the awards ceremony. And who was there to present her the award and shake her hand? Why Mr. John Nunn of course!

Congratulations Pam Liddell for owning such a wonderful horse and many thanks for letting Molly compete him. Many onlookers commented on how nice of a horse he is and it just gave us that much more Havarah pride!

However, after Molly took her lap in the victory gallop it was back to business: pack, load the horses, and hit the road! The crew said goodbye to Chattahoochee HIlls at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday and arrived home to a fog-covered landscape at around 2:45 this morning.

Though tired, and somewhat delirious, Molly was happy to walk in her house and find some homemade brownies from next door neighbor Dr. Steve Berkowitz. We are so fortunate to have such lovely neighbors and friends!

I was personally hoping Molly would take the day to relax... maybe veg a little... but hardworking as she is she was back to work and riding as she has horses entered in the Plantation International Horse Trials this weekend.

A life in horses never ends... but that's why we love it!

AEC Update

I can't believe it. There is only one day left of the Nutrena/USEA American Eventing Championships Presented by Bit of Britain.

It seems like the time has flown, and we can't believe a week has gone by so fast! The venue is absolutely beautiful and we at Havarah are overwhelmed with the maintenance and hospitality of the Chattahoochee Hills Eventing Facility.

Thank you to the USEA for holding the eighth annual AEC. Obviously, we all love the sport of Eventing and this championship gives everyone, upper to lower levels, a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Most importantly, the Havarah crew has had a BLAST here! This was a great learning experience for both prelim horses. Benny put in a fantastic stadium round for Molly today making her one of the few double clear rounds in her division. Rivan learned a lot from this event and we believe he will only continue to grow from this experience.

Maddie put in her usual class-act performance atop Carson, and although she wasn't boosted into the ribbons she finished on a fabulous ride and completed her first AEC! I would say she has reached all of the goals she has set for herself this year.

John Nunn really let his hair down this week. Seeing as he had both of his Bit of Britain areas covered, he was able to compete, for the first time, in the AEC. He put in a solid dressage test, improving a lot from the beginning of the season.

His cross country round was phenomenal. He road like a professional and ended up receiving the Technical Merit Award from Charles Owen meaning judges believed his ride was the best out of his training division. Today's stadium allowed him to finish on his dressage score and put the cherry on top of a glorious weekend for John and Smilelikeyoumeanit.

Hannah has yet again proved she has some major skills as a groom (no shock there :) ) and thanks to Steve and Kim Parisan who served as Hannah's helpers all weekend.

Molly will ride Indie tomorrow, who currently sits in 6th after cross country. According to Molly and Hannah Indie's cross country round made the course look like a walk in the park.

After her ride the crew will then pack everything and everyone into the truck and trailer and head back on their 14 hour trip back to PA.

What an amazing trip. For those of you back home stay tuned for the many pictures which will be sure to come!

Well the good news is I have internet... the bad news is it's crazy busy here so I apologize for delayed blogging!

Yes, the Havarah Team all made it safe and sound!

Everyone arrived at the beautiful Chattahoochee Hills Eventing Center on Tuesday and we must say: the facility is impressive.

The crew got the horses all settled in and hand-walked, with John Nunn leading Smiley behind a golf cart... this was either laziness or brilliance as I told him... and so not P.C.

But anyways... everyone wore a smile Tuesday because A) the long trip was over and B) we get to be at the AEC!

Dressage went underway today and tomorrow is the best part: Cross Country! With Molly competing Indie at Novice she will have two cross-country rides and one dressage ride tomorrow.

John had a great test today and is overwhelmed and excited to be competing at a tremendous event which he's backed since its inception.

Well, that's all for now... sorry for the short post but I figured you all were worried about us and wanted to know we made it down here safely! :).

I will do my best to keep you in the know for the rest of the weekend!

Seneca Recap Round Two

It was a busy day for the Havarah crew yesterday at Seneca with eight horses. But it was a good one.

Molly claimed first place on Kynymont Sterling O'Grady and in the same division she took fourth on Delaware Love Doctor which is awesome considering this was his first event!

Her other two rides on Kynymont Cody and Alpine were good as well, just a couple of green moments with both horses but they will only continue to get better!

Bryce and Hannah were pretty proud of their rides at their first recognized event with their mounts. Both came in seventh and had great rides.

Miss Maddie gave Zia an incredible first show and they finished up double clean cross country and show jumping!

Lastly, Robin was a rock star for her first time grooming at a show. With Hannah riding, it was up to her to make those horses sparkle and she did a great job!

The crew was running around like energizer bunnies today furiously packing for the American Eventing Championships. Halters were fuzzified so no one gets nasty rubs on the 14 hour ride to GA, Molly's entire tack room (well pretty much) was loaded into the trailer and all four horses were getting prepped for travel.

Now it's time for the crew to hit the road tonight and drive straight through the long hours. The crew will arrive at Chattahoochee Hills tomorrow and then it will be a crazy buzz to get all the horses settled in and the tack room set up.

Again, if you're going to be down south for the AEC make sure to say hi! Otherwise stay tuned because I'm sure it's going to be a crazy good time with lots to talk about!

AECs or Bust!

On Tuesday five horses from the Havarah crew will leave PA and head for Fairburn, GA for the eighth annual Nutrena/USEA American Eventing Championships Presented by Bit of Britain.

The little rock star, Miss Maddie, has been talking AEC since we met her back in December. Like she was bound and determined to make it to training level (which she did) she had a goal set on qualifying for the AEC (which she did... again).

Molly originally was just going to fly down and train Maddie but instead decided that since she had three horses qualified, what the heck! It's great exposure for all three horses and it will be a great experience for them.

Benny and Rivan will fight for number one in the preliminary divisions while Indie will be easily galloping around the novice course.

John Nunn also decided that since he had his handy PR girl there to man the BOB Publicity tent (Moi) that he would actually use his qualification and ride for the training gold.

It's a long haul (14 hrs) but us California transplants view these shows as a vacation. It reminds us of the good old days when all the shows were three days, thus constant long weekends including dinners with your barn family.

Plus, none of us have been to Chattahoochee Hills and since we've been hearing all the great reviews we thought we'd go check it out for ourselves :).

But even before Tuesday, the crew is heading to Seneca tomorrow (I don't know how they do it... just thinking about all the showing makes me feel tired... they must actually be REALLY tired!).

Molly will be riding some new-eventers: Delaware Love Doctor "Doc", Kynymont Cody "Cody", Kynymont Sterling O'Grady "Grady", and Alpine "Piny", These baby eventers will be testing the waters beginner novice, all four show great promise in this line of work.

Maddie will also be taking Zia Zabbata "Zia" to her first event and Quinn Anderson will be riding her pony Google. John Nunn is taking his new ex-racehorse "Red Horse Harry" to his first recognized event and John's daughter, Jennifer, will be riding her appaloosa mare Made to Show "Maiden".

Last but not least, Hannah is doing her first recognized event on her young mare, Anna's Band "Anna".

So tomorrow should be a nice, fun show for everyone and then pack up and head to Georgia!

Already Ready for Aiken?

There comes a time here on the East Coast where eventers have had ENOUGH of the frigid cold. No more inch-thick layers of ice on water buckets, frozen pipelines, snowballs in horses shoes and let's face it - five layers of clothes.

When we get to this frozen state we head south, yes like geese, to Aiken, SC.

No we are not leaving this early, although Hurricane Irene isn't making us feel warm inside at the moment, however Molly is proud to announce that the Havarah team will head back to Pine Ridge Stables in Aiken and this year we get the 10 stall barn. Whoot whoot!

Last year we had the seven stall barn, and though it was fantastic and we made it work with the 13 horses, we are excited for the upgrade to the 10 stall barn with more ammeneties.

Plus, we have added on a new member to the Havarah Team, Robin Weaver, who has already excitedly confirmed her participation in the 2012 Aiken adventure. Thus we will now have two houses to house the growing group of Havarah Equestrians.

Last year, Molly was excited to have a great group of new eventers and this year she is overjoyed to not only bring along the babies in the warm weather but continue to campaign our developing stream of upper-level competitors.

Another great point is that everyone seems to be in sync with one another and we are ready to take on the Aiken eventing scene!

Aiken is not only a great place to get away from the cold weather but it is the perfect setting to start out the season right for both lower and upper level event horses. Molly always comes back from her winter months feeling energized and prepared for the strenuous competitions on our home ground.

So stay tuned for the Aiken blogs - it will be here before we know it!

Havarah Turning Jumpers... JUST KIDDING!

Molly is bound and determined to make everyone exceptional show jumpers - and she's having success.

On Saturday the crew ventured to Top Venture Farm for another jumper show and it turned out to be a great day.

Bryce took his new mount, Toulousse aka DJ's Hero, and they completed their first competition as a team!

John Nunn rode both his mounts, Smilelikeyoumeanit and Red Horse Harry. This show solidified it in John's mind that the Red Horse is ready for his first recognized event at Seneca in a couple weeks!

Molly had four mounts. She took Alpine and The Love Doc to their first show and then she competed Ankhe Pass and Kynymont's Black Tuxedo as well.

Perhaps the two biggest shout outs go to Quinn Anderson and Hannah Metz. Both put on their gutsy pants and competed in the 3'3 division! First of all, these girls have never done a division this large before, having just started feeling their way through eventing at the beginner novice level, and neither have their horses! We are so proud and impressed girls!

So all in all it was a great experience for both horses and riders as these shows usually are.

On a less upbeat note, I wanted to take a moment to wish working student, Shadney Elwell, fair well as she has taken a job back in CA. Although she will no longer physically be here with us at Havarah we are very excited that she has found a great job and happiness back in CA and we will always view her as part of our team! Go get 'em girl!

First of all... I apologize my my prolonged absence. Cali claimed me for a little while and then the weather took away my internet - thanks thunder storms!

Any who... I've gotten through all of the horses and people so now I get to tell you all about myself. But this is good, I think you all should know a little about the blogger :).

I was born and raised in Sonoma County, CA and grew up competing horses in area VI. I caught the eventing bug when I was 13 and when I was 15 started training with Valerie Bertoli out of Sebastapol, CA.

However, after high school I gave up horses for a bit and I went to the University of Colorado to study journalism and mass communication (and PR and Advertising).

After three years without a horse I emailed Valerie, begging, for my beloved Ohlala back. Luckily, the two of us were re-united and she has now followed me from CA to CO, and from CO to PA - poor girl has traveled A LOT!

Upon graduation from college I didn't have a job lined up and I didn't feel like working so I started competing again - and I thought "why not do this forever?".

So I emailed Molly Rosin, who I had known through her training one of my crazy mares (I seem to like these types...). In October, 2010, I packed up my car with Finley (a pembroke welsh corgi) and a pod and headed East.

I spent about six months as a full-time working student with Molly, and loved it. However my itch to write and be a PR guru kept knocking and luckily, while in Aiken, SC, John Nunn, owner of Bit of Britain, offered me a gig.

Since then I have gradually morphed out of the "working student title" (though I still work at the barn every other weekend) - and into the into the world of business at BOB (which I LOVE!).

On the side I help Molly with PR related things and this blog which I am super happy you all enjoy!

It makes me so happy that I can share the every day Havarah news with you all and I'm so happy you like what you read.

I still plan on competing my mare, Ohlala, preliminary level with hopes of completing our first 1* and moving up to intermediate. But for now, I love to entertain YOU! So keep reading, keep commenting, and keep being a Havarah fan!

Waredaca ..... and my MOM!!! :)

Hello all, our fabulous blogger MJ has been away "chillin" with her family in California so I get to up-date you all myself. Apologies in advance, as I'm sure it wont be as entertaining! Since I get to write directly from the horses mouth I thought I'd take this time to have a slight reflection on where I am and how I came to be.

This weekend I competed at the Waredaca HT. This facility in MD holds a full Horse Trials on one day - but two days in a row. Meaning I was in an event on Saturday and a totally new event on Sunday. On Saturday I competed 4 horses and on Sunday I competed 3 "different" horses! I mean how cool is that. There's no bigger thrill then riding xc, except maybe getting to do it time after time :) This year has been my first year ever to have multiple upper level horses going at the same time. I've ridden more than one horse for awhile, but it's great to see a string of quality eventers developing and gaining confidence from each event.

This of course comes from a lot of efforts from many people. NOTHING would be happening without the wonderful owners. This weekend I rode for Quinn Anderson, Nancy and Alyssa Klavens, Mr and Mrs Benfield, Pamela Liddell and Bryce Kinnamon. THEN of course there'd be no way of getting all of this done with out a fantastic support crew. Hannah Metz is my right hand and she has a few quality girls learning the ropes- Maddie Parisan and Shadney Elwell. PLUS there's horses at home that have to get cared form- luckily we've got Kara and Robyn to keep the peace at the home stead.

What I'm really writing about was the weather. IT was CRAZY. Lightning, thunder, torrential rain and sometimes sun. The show must go on. I've learned this from my mom and it was extra special to have her around this weekend to see what she has developed. I remember thinking for a second that some people might actually think I was crazy. Growing up mom instilled in me that if you need something you find a way to make it happen. As my dad was sick for most of my childhood, mom was pretty much a single parent. She never said no when I had the opportunity to do something great. She always found a way to make it happen. That has turned into my life motto, all thanks to mom!

If you havent met my mom, Judy, you really are missing out. She makes a mean brisket, delicious peach cobbler and fantastic STOCK TIES :) In fact we still have a few available to help support Clydes surgery.

Mom leaves on Thursday morning and there's a lot of us out here that will be anxiously awaiting her return back.

Maddie Parisan

Plain and simple: this girl's got some major talent!

Maddie broke onto the Havarah scene this past December - decked out in Horseware Ireland clothing from head to toe.

One thing was certain; Maddie had talent and a passion for eventing.

Determined to improve her riding and really dive into the sport, Maddie became a working student for Molly and decided to make the trek to Aiken, SC with the Havarah Team for the winter.

Being Molly's newest student, Aiken was a great time for Maddie to really learn from Molly and delve into the finesse of each phase of the sport.

Already competing novice, Maddie's dreams were set upon moving up to training. Molly, trying to instill some obtainable goals in Maddie, told the tale of how she moved up to training. Molly's trainer told her that when she won at novice she could move up. Maddie seemed to seriously listen to this story as at her next novice combined test, she won.

According to Molly, this ability to listen and do is a common theme with this talented little rider, and what makes teaching her so much fun.

It is quite incredible. Maddie will have never done something before and all Molly has to do is explain. Then Maddie goes out - and she does it!

Yes, like everyone, she has good and bad days, but her ability to not only understand, but feel what Molly is explaining is remarkable for someone so young.

Maddie really broke out in the eventing scene this season, and the common response is "is she that tiny little thing on that horse? She is so adorable!"

It is hard to miss this string-bean on the 16h flea-bitten TB named Carson "Hope to Star", decked out in purple in teal. Not to mention Carson is 18 years old!

Having taken home multiple 2nd places, Carson and Maddie, along with mom and groom Kim Parisan, will be making the journey to Chattahoochee Hills for the AEC in September. They will compete at training level and go for the gold!

Despite perfecting her major skills, Maddie is also a hard worker around the barn. She has taken over my role as barn manager Kara's assistant - and she makes sure to be Charly's daily caretaker.

Great with the horses, this bubbly, self-confident kid is such a great addition to the Havarah Team. As always, horses are a great way for kids to learn responsibility and they get a chance to be involved in something bigger than themselves at an early age. Each day for Maddie is a learning experience, but she has the determination and talent to make it to the top.

It has and will continue to be an utter joy to watch this girl fly through the levels. Having conquered training level, she is now bound and determined to be the youngest preliminary rider at Havarah - unfortunately for her USEA regulations are now the only thing holding her back!

Keep your eyes out for Miss Maddie - you will be seeing lots of this one!

Congrats Cara Lavigna!

Congratulations to Cara Lavigna who purchased Havarah's metro-man, Kynymont's Absolutely Irish "Archie"!

After looking at over 25 horses across multiple states, 18-year-old Cara fell in love with one of our Kynymont Connemaras and with in the next week Archie will board a plan in Newark, NJ to venture to his new home in Southern California.

Cara rides with well-known rider and trainer, Jenifer Johnson, and though she will be starting college this year, she will continue to train with Jen (her college is near her facility) while bringing Archie along in hopes of reaching the upper levels of eventing!

This talented horse just started competing in January down in Aiken. His last event was training level at the Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy in July, finishing on his dressage score.

It is always bitter-sweet for all those of us at Havarah when one of our team mates sells and ventures off to a new life and home. We spend so many hours a day with these horses they really become part of the family. However, we are so excited that Archie has found himself his very own girl.

Through the sadness of saying goodbye we gain a joy of watching our horses leave and flourish with their riders. It is always exciting to watch one of the horses you pampered for many hours go to the right home and we are looking forward to seeing Archie's name on the leader boards!

In addition, Molly is super happy to have made this match. One of Molly's greatest joys is introducing the perfect horse to the perfect rider and she was definitely able to do that in this situation.

Thank you Pam Liddell for bringing Archie to Havarah - Molly really enjoyed helping Archie learn the ropes of eventing, horses as nice as this sell themselves!

And to Cara, we at Havarah are so excited for you! We all love Archie and know you two will have such a great time together competing on the West Coast!

Shananagins!

OK. Before I go any further, is that not the cutest name you've ever heard of for a pony!

Shananigans came to Havarah on a mission to find his new partner-in-crime and we are happy to have helped him find Alex, an 11-year-old Midwestern boy from Chicago that purchased this 8 year old Connemara pony just last week.

Alex has already had incredible success as a rider cleaning up the ribbons at dressage for juniors in New York. A talented rider of the future, Alex was looking for a pony who could help him further his dreams and take him to the top!

Alex, Shananigan's New Owner

Shananigans is a pony who fancies himself a horse. This lovely-moving Connnemara has a solid dressage base thanks to his previous owner and breeder, Pam Liddell. In fact, at their last show, Shananigans and Pam scored in the upper 70's!

When Shananigans met Alex it was a match made in heaven. Alex, a natural rider and a fancy pony - it was perfection from there forward.

All of us at Havarah are happy to have helped make this match. Molly always enjoys helping Pam Liddell and Kynynmont Connemaras sell a wonder horse (or pony). Thanks Pam for all your continued support of Molly and we all love the beautiful horses you breed and bring to Havarah Equestrian.

We are so excited for your new partnership! You have just purchased a wonderful mount and the two of you will go very far together! New Jersey Recap

For those of you on the edge of your seats waiting for a recap of Havarah's weekend in New Jersey, my apologies for my not-so-hasty update.

Although it was a long weekend, starting with Molly's alarm being set before 4 a.m. Saturday and ending with a tire blowout Sunday evening prolonging the crew's arrival to after 10 p.m.; it was also a really good weekend.

The weekend was a huge improvement for our preliminary stars: Rivan, Benny and Sprite. Both Rivan and Benny seem to be taking to the level really well (having this being their second prelim since their move up). Sprite competed in her first show back this summer (bummed I missed it this pony is my favorite horse to attend to at shows).

Molly said she jumped around amazingly in show jumping - one of the few double clear rounds on a course that was pulling a lot of rails.

Connemara's Cody and Grady completed their first event at beginner novice, scoring in the 23's and 24's for dressage and jumping round the courses well.

John Nunn was a superstar with his horse Smilelikeyoumeanit scoring a 35 in dressage, even while horses were flying by going cross country, and only pulling a couple rails stadium - from what I hear, this was a MEAN stadium course.

Jenn, John's daughter, completed her first recognized event! Congrats to Jenn Nunn! You will be seeing this girl in her hot-pink attire atop her spotted partner, Maiden.

Cecil County Fair Domination

I am so incredibly proud of Team Havarah.

I mean I'm always proud of everyone, but today I'm super duper proud!

With summer comes one of my favorite things in life: county fairs! With those fairs come jumper shows, playgrounds for us eventers who use these as great schooling opportunities.

Two members of our team, Maddie and Kim Parisan (mother and daughter domination combo) cleaned up the ribbons.

Maddie got two 1sts and a second, plus she was Champion in the 3'6 division. Her mom, Kim, won all three of the 3'3 classes she entered. Freaking awesome!

Molly competed Grady and Cody, two absolutely adorable Connemara's from Pam Liddell's Kynynmont Farm. Both did well and will be competing in their first Beginner Novice this weekend at the Jersey Horse Park. I can't stress enough how much we all love these ponies (and horses) that Pam brings to us. Connemara's are quickly becoming one of my favorites breeds!

The rest of the Havarah team was there to represent as well! Hannah took Anna, Shadney finally got to get her mare, Ella, back in the ring and boyfriend Andy took his handsome man, Beau.

Last but not least, Bit of Britain and Nunn Finer owner/one of Havarah's leading men, John Nunn, was there with his new "red" horse. He said out of 31 jumps he only had three rails all day and was very happy with his green youngster. "Red Horse" obviously is a chestnut and both Molly and John are very excited about his promise as an event prospect.

Everyone was a champ and had a great time. Stay tuned for this weekend because Molly heads out to the Jersey Horse Park with five horses in tow: Sprite, Benny and Rivan will compete prelim, Cody and Grady will compete beginner novice.

John and his daughter Jenn will also be competing, John training on Smile Like You Mean It "Smiley" and Jenn on her spotted mare, Maiden.

Hannah "Banana" Metz

"Hannah is Molly's right hand." This is one of the first things our barn manager Kara Flood uttered to me when I was visiting Havarah in October - such accurate words.

Hannah perhaps knows Molly's needs better than Molly herself. I don't know how, but she always knows which goes with what and exactly how Molly will like something done.

She is always one step ahead too. If I'm helping her pack the trailer for a show by the time I think of something we need she's already packed it!

Hannah's great with the horses and absolutely loves and adores each and every one of them. She literally loves what she does and takes those extra five minutes to make sure every piece of crud is curried off a horse's legs, or washing a horse's tail because it's looking a little dirty.

I have never met anyone like Hannah. She's honest, sweet, hard working, and just all around pleasant. I know? Are we talking about a teenager here?

Hannah met Molly when she and her mom went to watch her ride at Fair Hill in the interest of training with Molly. Pattie, Hannah's mom, respected the way Molly dealt with a spook from Charly in dressage - calm, cool, collected - and signed Hannah up for lessons.

Being that she's home-schooled Hannah has a lot of time during the day to work around the barn. I believe Hannah has worked for Molly for a little over two years - and has loved every day of it. Molly enjoys making the barn a learning experience for Hannah. Whether it be doing calculations as to how long supplements will last or making grooming a horse an educational experience - Hannah, in my opinion, attends the coolest school in the world!

In addition, Hannah has a beautiful gray thoroughbred Mare, Anna's Band. Yes - Anna and Hannah - thus the reason I started calling her "Banana" in Aiken because I kept calling Hannah Anna and visa versa. Anna is a five-year-old, off the track mare who is teaching Hannah the thrills of bringing along a young, green horse.

The pair has competed in two unrecognized beginner novices and are excited for their first recognized! Hannah as been extremely patient in the training process and loves her dappled gray filly.

Though she is just starting her eventing career on this mare, Hannah has been in it for a while. She goes to every show Molly goes to, because she pretty much is the horse-show master. She always keeps everything so organized and under control at the trailer. While Molly is hopping from horse to horse, Hannah is taking care of everything back at the trailer.

She is impressive.

Shadney "Shad" Elwell

Shadney is the newest member of the Havarah team joining us back in April.

Another California transplant (those seem to be common here at Havarah), Shadney moved out to be with boyfriend, Andrew Goodwin, Molly's CWD rep.

Shadney started riding pretty much when she was born as her mom had always had horses. She started eventing when she was 13 or so and guess what? She caught the bug and has been doing it ever since!

Before taking the plunge into the East Coast lifestyle, Shadney trained with well-known California trainer, Robyn Fisher-Nash at Mill Creek right outside of LA.

Shadney and her 15.3 hand paint mare Ella are now in full training with Molly in hopes of moving up to training at their next show.

OK. So when one says a horse is a "paint" you're thought process usually takes you back to old western movies or quarter horses barrel racing - not a bay, without a mark on her, who moves like a warmblood and jumps like a thoroughbred.

Nope. She's not half dutch or whatever type of warmblood paints are being bred to these days. She's 100 percent racing paint.

Shadney acquired this little ball of energy when she was two turning three. Ella or "Picture of Ellagance" was bred by Kings Corner Training Stables.

Shadney broke and trained this girl and when meeting the two of them it is immediately understood: this is her baby.

This pair's claim to fame is right before moving out East they took 1st at Twin Rivers, finishing on their dressage score of 14. I mean.... how many paints can do that?

It has been great having this team around. Shadeny fits right in at the land of the little people standing at a whopping 5'4". She is also a very good rider and all the horses seem to really like her - including little Zia who has become her second little mare in a way.

Shadney, at 24, has a long career ahead of her in the horse world. You will definitely be seeing her and Ella in the ribbons and moving up through the levels.

Plus, you may recognize Shadney and myself at horse shows rocking out to either Britney Spears or Steel Panther... feel free to stop on by and say hi!

Movin' on Up

For those of you weekly followers, it's been a crazy couple of weeks.

Although we haven't yet begun profiling the four legged creatures owned by those who keep Havarah Equestrian running on a day to day basis - the working students - I thought it best to do a quick recap of the excitement we at the farm have had in the past couple weeks.

Like any professional, even though Molly had to deal with the tragedy of Clyde's injury, she had to keep her horses in training moving, and showing.

Hard work definitely pays off - Molly had a very successful two weeks at the Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy. Last weekend she took home the blue on Archie, solidifying his readiness to move up from novice to training.

Sabrina moved from prelim to intermediate this past weekend, Rivan and Benny moved up to prelim, Leto moved to novice, and Archie, Indie and Ankhe took a go at training level.

Molly was extremely proud of all of her mounts. Sabrina cruised around the intermediate course like she'd been doing it all her life, Benny put in his best test yet, Indie took 5th and Archie was a superstar.

While it is always exciting to hear how the horses did at the show, I find it even more exciting to look at their careers. The majority of these horses began their careers in Aiken, and now they are competing at training and preliminary!

In addition, When I first joined the Havarah team back in October, Molly's business was really starting to take off. However, Charly was, at the time, her big horse. When he wasn't able to finish the Fair Hill International and had to take time off for an injury, Molly's upper level entries had to be put somewhat on hold.

Now, she has three horses competing preliminary and one horse intermediate - all of us at Havarah are so proud of her! We also can expect to see these training horses making the jump to prelim in the near future. Leto can take it a little slower and enjoy novice as he's still only four! :).

Furthermore, all of these horses, and one incredible pony, are very talented and are expected to keep movin' on up.

What an amazing time this must be for Molly: to walk down her barn aisle and look in the eyes of her possible international competitors.

I can't imagine the pride and excitement she must feel on a daily basis, knowing she has the ability to ride incredible horses and help them reach their full potential.

One thing I am able to have a read on his watching Molly's partnership develop with these horses. She has come to predict their actions, know what they need to push them to the next level - these horses truly trust her. They have developed from "horses in training" to partnerships. I have personally only managed this with one horse, it must be wonderful to be able to ride so many horses and have a special relationship with each one.

Havarah Equestrian is also awaiting the arrival of a few more horses shortly! We will be receiving some more of the Connemara's we have come to love and a brother to a dutch warmblood/paint. We are excited for some more future superstars!

Lastly, Clyde is looking fabulously healthy, perky and ambitious. He's already got his eyes back on Panda awaiting his moment when he will be able to begin stalking her again.

Amazingly, all is well and better than normal at the barn. Funny how things work out.

Before I start the next profile, I wanted to again thank everyone for their continual support of Molly and Clyde. We will continue to keep you posted on his progress and if you wish to donate to his recovery please find donation links at the end of each Clyde related blog.

Now, it is time to get you back on track with getting to know our horses at Havarah.

The next little lady to enjoy the spotlight it Zia - I call her a warrior princess (I mean doesn't her name sound like one?) - standing at 15h Zia is a petite, but talented, 4 year old TB mare.

Zia came to Molly from well-known racehorse trainer, Janet Elliot, back in November or December.

When she arrived, she was an adorable mini mare standing at 14.1h. A pony thoroughbred!

She was completely green - but I could instantly tell she was intelligent. It's just one of those mare things I love: when you teach her something, she pays attention and learns fast.

Zia stayed out in pasture when we went to Aiken - at the time she had just turned four - to relax and mature. When we were down in Aiken, Molly was planning on selling her as a pony racer - but that changed when we got back - SHE GREW!

Zia's training really began when we got back from Aiken, but now she is one of Molly's working students, Shadney's, favorite rides.

She is a good little jumper too - consistent between fences and as I said before, smart.

This mare is not at all mareish. I really haven't seen her be cranky or purposely nasty, she really is an upbeat filly. Always peeking her head out her window welcoming your arrival with a whinny.

She has the most peculiar facial marking, it starts as a blaze, but then curves off to the left in the middle of her face, never making it down to her nose. In addition, she has the kindest eyes.

As you may have guessed this little girl is for sale. She's waiting to be some one's talented little project, so If you are interested email molly@mollyrosin.com.

Clyde is Home!

About 30 minutes ago Molly and Bryce rolled up to the farm, Clyde in tow.

It took a little while for Molly to exit the vehicle as everyone seemed to purposely wait around to witness Clyde's return - and therefore he received pets and sweet voices from everyone still at the farm.

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Clyde. He looks GREAT!

I expected him to be under the weather, but he was happy, licking, smiling... it is incredible.

As Rob, one of the Havarah employees, stated, "you got nine lives boy!" I have to agree with Molly an Bryce - we hope he doesn't use up any more of them.

Clyde is a fighter that is for sure. The doc said he definitely tested life's limits and is a strong pup to make it through what he did.

While everyone here is happy to have Clyde back I think he will be missed at the hospital (of course he was the favorite).

Clyde will pretty much live inside for two weeks. He will be allowed to go outside to use the facilities but definitely no playing allowed. He is, however, encouraged to walk a little bit if he is so inclined.

He will go back to visit the doctor in two weeks and then he will begin H20 therapy.

Words can't express how much of a toll this accident has had on everyone here at Havarah. Although he is Molly's dog, Clyde has touched us all and is a part of everyone's life.

Not to mention we love Molly. Seeing her as she's been the past few days made me keep my fingers crossed that Clyde would return home as he did today - looking happy and well.

A sigh of relief was let out when I saw Molly sitting in the back of Bryce's Lexus, holding Clyde, with a smile across her face - her baby is home. Thank goodness.

We continue to thank everyone for your support and helping Molly and Bryce make it through this week. It's an uphill battle from here, but Clyde is a tough little guy and I have confidence he will make a full recovery.

Road to recovery...

Bryce and I went to visit Clyde today. We had some great riders over from Chicago, Ill finishing up some horse try-outs this AM. It was wonderful to meet Alex and re-visit with Jennie- both of these are riders of the future and I would be so proud if Alex ends up with one of our Havarah horses. This morning was as much as I could do at the barn today, I was desperate to go see Baby Clyde.

Luckily Bryce has been hanging out with me and here to help get things done so that as much positive energy as possible can go to our boy. I'm a mess, there's no two ways about it. Getting Clyde through the surgery was the biggest feat, for us emotionally, the surgeon mentally and Clyde physically. Clyde is a champ, a good eater and a lover... that's why he's going to make it.

Bryce and I were like little kids the anticipation was too much- and perhaps too built up. I started to cry as soon as I saw Clyde. My Mr Smiles was not so smiley and instead full of bruising in his legs and pretty sleepy from the exhaustion. However, he was well enough aware that his mommy came in and I promptly got a sweet little kiss which meant the world to me. Bryce and I stayed there as long as they'd let us, Clyde loves to cuddle and we figured we could at least give him some company for his nap. Probably the best part about the trip was Clyde's joy when his daddy gave him some fresh turkey off of his sub from Cappriotti's. Clyde loves good food :)just like his dad.

I know my post sounds dreary, but really he is doing as good or better than expected. I know how lucky we are to still have Clyde and am not in any way minimizing that. The vets think he is doing so well and being such a good patient that we'll be able to bring him home tomorrow. They havent given us a list of after care but I know it will be pretty intensive for a few days. At the current moment he has a catheter in for urination- this should come out and I'm sure the little man will need some help maneuvering out to go do his duties. Like any surgery blood clots are of concern so I'll be making sure to help him with rotating in his nap positions and within a short time I'll help him with his PT. I think we are going to choose swimming as a re-hab option! Clyde luckily loves water and just went swimming on the 4th of July... so he's all ready to go!

Once again, all of you following and giving us encouragement and support - you guys rock!! Really, we need you and thank you so much.

Clyde had the surgery!

Just wanted to up date all of Hopper's followers. Clyde (aka Hopper) went under anesthesia around 2pm this afternoon and we received a call at 6pm that they were finished.

There was no question that this great little pup needed surgery - as you can tell from this radio graph his legs look like multiple chopsticks instead of the former strong legs that used to help him with his leaping bounds in and out of the creek and around the field on trot sets. It was a huge financial undertaking but I couldnt not give back to this puppy that has in one year given me an incredible amount of joy. Life just isnt the same without Clyde.

Today in the surgery he recieved plates and screws in the leg with one break. His other leg, the more intensive part of the surgery, had 3 breaks and needed plates, screws and wires. While the doc was in there he realized that Clydes leg was still a little TOO loose. It was due to his right ACL being torn. So that got a little mend as well.

For now they advised us to let him sleep and rest tonight. We are allowed to visit him tomorrow and at some point Wednesday or Thursday we will get to take him home! Bryce, Quigley and I are incomplete with out Baby Clyde and are all so anxious to have him here.

Clyde has lots of friends- he will need to stay away from the 4 legged ones for awhile as they will be too much for his weak body. BUT all 2 legged friends are welcome after he settles back in. I know he's been through a lot of trauma and I cant wait for him to be back to thinking life is wonderful.

We will keep the up-dates coming, but hopefully from here forward no news is good news!

The story of Saturday night

To all my friends and family who are wanting to know what happened to my poor Clyde. Below is the story of Saturday night.

We had gotten home from a long day at Loch Moy HT- it was a good day- Kynymont's Absolutely Irish had all the pieces come together and was foot perfect for a win on a 28. The other two horses that went did great as well. However, a horse at home had a little mishap during the day, so at 9pm Clyde and I went out to do some cold hosing to help out the injured horse. Clyde loves hanging out at the barn and is really one of those great dogs that is just happy getting to be involved. Probably about 9:15 Clyde left the wash stall area, I thought nothing of this as he has a best friend at the barn, Panda his cat girlfriend, normally if he left me that meant he was over staring at Panda. At 9:30 I went back to the house and intended to see him starring into Panda's eyes in lust, but I didn't. He wasn't at the house either. Figuring he was hanging out in the hay loft with the other cats I took a quick shower. Expecting to see him inside the house as I got out- he hadn't had dinner and he doesn't like to miss a meal!

Clyde wasn't there and at that point and time my best hope was that he got stuck in a stall, tack room, feed room or some spot that he must've snuck into and then the door closed on him (this has happened twice in the past). After a mad dash through the barns looking for him, a neighbor came driving by our farm saying that there was a loose horse at the end our road. I knew it wasnt ours, but wanting to help whatever horse I grabbed Hannah and off we went to see who's horse it was. It was an Amish pony and the kids had collected him before we even got there. So now Hannah and I start another round of furiously trying to get Clyde. Must've been interesting for the neigbhbors because Clyde has a lot of names; "Clyde, Clydski, Hopper, Hopps, Hop-skotch, Hopper-doodle, Hopper and Clyde the Glyde Drexler" he wasnt answering to any of them. This is all totally abnormal, Clyde loves people and he doesnt ignore us. I was very scared at this point, had never LOST an animal before and didn't know how I was ever going to find Clyde in the dark. Awhile into this we called MJ down and her and her dog Fin Fin (Clyde's other best friend) came down to join the search.

We searched for what seemed an eternity- finally I was walking off of the road onto our farm property to try to re-group and decide what to do now. It was pitch black and very hard to see anything (we did have flashlights). Luckily right then I heard the faintest whisper of help from Clyde. I only got it once and it was faint but I know his voice so well I knew it was him. I ran in the direction of his cry and found him laying in a ditch beside the road. This is so hard to write and was soooo hard to see. My child had been hurt and hurt badly enough he couldnt move at all nor talk. (Clyde has an excellent voice, if you've never heard him sing, when he gets all better I'm sure he'd love to give you a solo) The thing about Clyde is he doesnt' have a mean bone in his body and is/was nieve to all the negative in the world. He was such a happy go lucky guy. Its so painful to witness him hurting.

MJ, Hannah and Myself in midst of balling and fear got a lot done in a few minutes and called a few different emergency places and decided on one in Newcastle, DE. Chuck Arensburg, a vet himself and dog lover had suggested this place to me... said they'd be able to help Clyde. In the car and as fast as the little BUG would go we were off to DE. Clyde would go through periods of times of being very still, scarily still- then he would shake- then he would move his head around and be seeming to try to move, but couldn't. Hannah and I kept talking to him and trying to keep him fighting to make it. I didn't know how much bleeding was going on internally or how badly off we really were.

Clyde didn't look like he was run over- there was only one small cut on the inside of his hind leg. This has been tough for me to not know what happened to him that was enough to hurt him so badly.

Clyde arrived at the Vet Emergency Hospital and the immediately took over- again tough for me to sit back and not be with Clyde, so scared he could just leave us at anytime. Clyde was being tough, tougher than me. To try and wrap up my long story we found out that Clyde broke his femurs. One in 3 spots and the other in 1 spot. His bones look like Chop Sticks. Luckily from what we can tell no damage to his spine, and other internal pieces.

The surgeon is about to see him now and I should be able to consult with him within the hour- I'm really trying to stay hopeful. Baby Clyde is loved by so many and I hope with all my heart that one day soon he'll be back over here making everyone smile.

Clyde Update

Hello again.

Thanks to everyone for your constant support and words of encouragement.

Clyde for sure has two broken legs, both femurs. One leg is broken straight across in one spot and his other leg is broken all the way through in three spots.

We know he wasn't hit by a car as he most likely would not be alive. In addition, there were no spinal or internal injuries. Both injuries were localized to his two hind legs.

At the moment, we suspect he was attacked - by who or what we do not know.

Clyde needs surgery and Molly needs your help. The Femur surgery itself is $3,000 per leg but Molly is already $2,000 in for the emergency visit and stay. Femur fractures mean a large loss of blood, and therefore Clyde will most likely need blood transfusions as well.

In addition, before Clyde can have the surgery Molly has to pay half of the cost up front. She needs help.

All we ask is if you were planning on sending flowers, make a donation to Clyde instead. This donation will aid in his recovery.

This is a difficult time for Molly, and this is a difficult thing for her to ask, but Clyde is dear to everyone at Havarah and therefore we hope those who are part of our team, and family, will aid in making sure Clyde is jogging cross country courses soon.

Thoughts and Prayers for Clyde

Hi everyone.

Unfortunately this blog will not be as chipper and warm as the others but we felt you all should know what was going on with us today.

Last night around 9:30 p.m. Molly's boarder terrier, Clyde, went missing. After about 45 minutes of searching Molly found Clyde in the ditch across the street, completely in shock.

We are unclear as of now what exactly happened. We live on Sproul Rd in Kirkwood, PA and though the speed limit is 35 mph, people drive at least 50. Clyde and my dog Finley have always seemed intrigued by wondering across this busy, dangerous road. We have always taken serious precautions and kept watchful eyes to keep our dogs off the road, but we've always been fearful that something like this may happen.

Luckily, we found Clyde not long after his accident. There weren't any major contusions on the exterior of his body, but he wasn't moving and we could tell at least one hind leg was broken - and hoped there were no internal injuries.

Molly and Hannah were able to find an address for an emergency animal hospital in Lancaster and wrapped Clyde up in a towel and whipped him off.

I cannot say much about what happened at the hospital but Molly updated me this morning that Clyde needs surgery (and may be in surgery as we speak) with two broken femurs. He is a lucky little guy as there wasn't any damage to his internal organs and his spine is in tact.

However, at least one of his legs is broken in multiple places.

I don't know how, but Molly still managed to leave what is the equivalent to her child in the hands of vets and make it home last night (or early this morning) to take Rivan and Benny to Loch Moy. There is no doubt in my mind that she is a very strong person.

Bryce is on his way to the hospital to be with Clyde today. He is stable and as of now we are just waiting to hear final results after surgery.

We ask that you all send your thoughts and prayers to Clyde, Molly and Bryce. I have spent so much time blogging about how much we love our horses - but along with the horses - our dogs are our children, best friends, and part of our soul.

Do you guys remember that adorable horse Archie who I blogged about not too long ago?

Well...HE JUST WON!

Knowing these horses as well as I do, I become extraordinarily proud of them when they kick some major butt!

The crew left at 5 a.m. this morning, after a Havarah sleep over in the main house, with four horses.

Molly took Archie and Tux to compete novice, Molly's student Collin took her horse Midas to compete prelim and Shadney, Molly's working student, took her boyfriend's horse, Beau, novice.

I wanna give a shout out to Shadney for her resourcefulness as she was entered training this weekend with her mare, Ella, however, Ella had somewhat of a butt malfunction and thus Shadney kept her entry with her boyfriend's Beau and came in 4th!

What can you do? It's horses - sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.

In addition, the crew created their own "Sponsorship Tent" at Loch Moy.

Congrats Bryce!

Along with another horse we have officially added another member to our Havarah team: Bryce - Molly's boyfriend.

Whoot! Now we've got four guys around the barn balancing out all of the feminine energy! The Havarah Men's Team - as well call it - consists of John Nunn, Andy Goodwin, Alex Robertson (even though he is a dressage guy - but he feels like part of the family) and now Bryce.

Now our barn is about 50/50!

But I'd like to extend a congratulations to Bryce on acquiring Toulousse - a horse that came to us from our wonderful neighbors, Barb and Rody Strang.

Toulousse is a 10 year old TB gelding who raced until he was eight. He was one of Barb's projects and always seemed like a pretty laid back guy when she'd ride/trailer him over.

Mostly - I'm just excited we finally found Bryce a mount!

He's been catching rides from horses in training with Molly but since he's been back in the saddle (after a long break from his pony club days) he's been wanting a horse to call his own. Who can blame him? Don't we all?

I knew Toulousse was probably going to be the keeper after driving home one night. I pulled in the drive way and saw Bryce, camera out, toasting Toulousse with a beer (I think he was trying to see if he'd enjoy it as much as Charly does...).

This was pretty cute.

So needless to say we have a new face at the farm and you bet he'll be profiled soon!

Kynymont Indelibly Irish

The last of the Connemaras - Mr. Indy

Indie is the oldest of the pack. He's a 2001 Connemara Cross by Kynymont Dublin and out of Greystone Irish Rose. Standing at 16h Indie is half Connemara and half TB/Selle Francais/Canadian Hunter.

Indy came to Havarah with a solid dressage background but decided he was going to try his hand in the triathlon of equestrian sports.

Indy immediately stole Hannah's heart (Molly's groom). He automatically became her favorite Connemara, which is understandable because he is so darn cute.

He has the sweetest face. Where most horses have indents above their eyes, Indy doesn't. This gives him so much personality and really he has such an adorable look about him because of it.

In addition, this horse can move... and he can jump. He is consistently racking in the low scores and finishes in the top 10 placings of his division.

He started his career in Aiken this winter and got a 10 on his first dressage test with Molly. This guy knows how to turn it on for the judges.

Indy really is unlike any horse I have ever met. He is just such a pleaser. You can tell when Molly rides him that he wants to do a good job 100 percent of the time.

It's this mentality that makes him so enjoyable for Molly and why she enjoys competing him so much. He never seems to pull attitude either. There are those horses that sometimes say "no" but if Indy ever had a "bad day" it's really because he just doesn't understand something. Once he gets it, he's perfect.

This part of the blog is always bitter sweet for me - Indy is for sale.

It's bitter sweet because we love all the horses at Havarah. I've spent so much time with all of them that I now feel I have 26 horses. We get to know their needs and personality quarks so I'm never ready to see one go.

Kynymont Black Tuxedo - "Tux"

This horse knows he's awesome.

Another one of the three Kynymont Connemaras we have at Havarah, Tux is probably the one who looks most like a Connemara.

His bushy forelock and tail sort of give him away - but this horse (yes another horse at 15.2!) demonstrates the sturdiness of this breed.

From day one, Molly knew this guy could jump and he has continued to show us his scope. Mostly, he's just proved that he is a good boy who puts in a solid performance every time out.

When we were in Aiken, SC, Tux really showed his potential as a junior or adult amateur horse. One of our talented working students, Maddie Parisan, started hopping on Tux between his full training and he proved to be that perfect amateur horse.

It was pretty cute watching Maddie, 12, steer Tux around a stadium course. Even though he was still a bit green, Tux seemed to enjoy his youthful partner and jumped around schooling courses like a rock star.

He, along with his brothers, started his Eventing career in Aiken, SC and quickly moved up from Beginner Novice to Novice, and now he is getting ready to move up to Training.

This horse just has a confidence about him. Once he figures something out, he owns it - and then knows he's hot stuff. I think it's this confidence that makes him so fun for Molly to compete.

He's got great form over the fences and probably even has enough ability to be successful in the jumper arenas.

This handsome man is also for sale. If you are looking for a fun ride and a horse that will give you a consistent performance each time out. Tux is ready to make an amateur happy and bring home the blues!

Pulled Pork, Guitars and Good Friends

One of the most enjoyable things about living at Principia Stables is the Hulme's porch. It has become the center of summer cook-out festivities and day by day I am enjoying country living more.

We had a wonderful dinner party tonight filled with pulled pork, buffalo chicken dip, Coronitas (thanks Bryce for grabbing the mini Coronas ;) ) and more.

Our wonderful friends from the barn and surrounding community stopped by to share some laughs - Vance, our farrier from Advanced Farrier Specialties, and Dr. B - a local vet who lives across the street - provided the music with their guitars.

It was a bit of a bittersweet night as the ownersof Principia, and now our dear friends, the Hulmes, are leaving us tomorrow to go back to California.

They will be back for Christmas but will be missed as they are wonderful people who bring a light to our farm. Sophie has been incredibly helpful around the barn and given another one of the Kynymont Connemaras, Cody, some miles while she's been here.

Andrew's cooking will be terribly missed - along with his hilarious English tales.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by tonight and to the Hulmes: have a safe trip back to California and Sophie, you keep rockin' it out in Area VI (hopefully we'll have you jumping around Area II shortly)!

Absolutely Irish - "Archie"

It was back in November or December that Molly informed us we would be getting a couple Connemaras in for training. My mind immediately jumped back to this buck-skinned powerhouse that always beat out my off-the-track, green thoroughbred at Novice.

Needless to say I was eager to work with one of these animals that had easily stolen away those blue ribbons... but I wasn't expecting Archie to walk off the trailer.

And let me just start by saying: I love this horse. He is just so sweet and well-mannered.

Archie is a 2003 Connemara/Cross by Kynynmont Dublin(sire) and Greystone Irish Rose(dam). Don't let the Connemara in his breeding fool you... this is a very lovely HORSE!

Archie is half Connemara and half TB/Selle Francais/Canadian Hunter. Standing at 16 hands he is definitely not a pony, and his movement displays the warmblood in him.

Archie was one of the original Connemaras who came to Havarah last fall (we now have three at the farm). From the beginning Molly realized he was special and had a ton of potential. With beautiful movement and a solid jump, Molly believed Archie had the makings of a pro.

From handling Archie on the ground I can honestly say he is one of my favorites. He's like that sweet guy friend you can always confide in and enjoy spending time with. I don't think this boy has a mean bone in his body. Yes, I know people always say that about horses, but I have never seen this guy do anything ill-mannered in the eight or so months I have known him.

To better describe this horse I need to make him human. If he were a person, he would be very "metro". You know those skinny, good-looking guys who have a better fashion sense than most woman? These types of guys are the best ones to shop with because they are very honest, and Archie is definitely very honest when it comes to his training.

Archie started competing Beginner Novice in Aiken, SC during the winter months and as this level seemed too easy for him he quickly moved up to novice and is hopefully making the leap to training soon.

Molly and Archie's owner, Pam Liddell, are determined to show the eventing world that there is a new breed to take home the blues at the upper levels.

More than it being a pleasure to work with Archie it has been a pleasure to have Pam Liddell as part of the Havarah team. Her passion for these horses has led her to allow Molly to compete three of them!

Ankhe Pass

Now it's time to meet the linebacker of our Havarah football team - Ankhe Pass.

Ankhe is a 2003 thoroughbred gelding by Lear Fan and is owned by Kathy Anderson.

As the first sentence of this profile would suggest Ankhe is... big boned... and it's a running joke that he has a bit of an identity crisis.

Ankhe, bred from a long line of thoroughbreds to become the next great racehorse didn't really hack it on the track - I believe this is because he wishes he was a warmblood.

Not only does his body type match that of a warmblood, his personality would lead you to believe he is one. Perhaps he has spent too much time with Rivan, who is by Contango, but Ankhe wants to be a little less hot and a little more warm.

Standing at 17 hands with the muscle mass of a professional body builder, Ankhe is a gentle giant.

This guy earned his place as a solid citizen when he and Molly's boyfriend, Bryce, became a team. Bryce was just getting back in the saddle when this giant came to the farm and he sort of became Bryce's "project".

They competed Beginner Novice together until Molly had to put Ankhe in a long-term program, but during this time Ankhe proved hat we was willing, honest and just a solid guy.

Being such a beast, it has taken Ankhe a little while to learn how to best utilize all features of his body in the appropriate way to master a dressage test. When he gets it, this horse displays very large, powerful movement.

The same can be said for jumping. In the beginning he had to figure out how to best place his feet, but when he gets it he shows a ton of scope and - as Molly points out - this powerful animal would be the most solid horse to navigate around a slippery, muddy Badminton cross-country course on.

Look out for Ankhe on the show circuit - he's currently running Training!

The Diesel Boy - "Leto"

When I first met Diesel Boy, or "Leto" as we call him, I was basically interviewing for a working student position with Molly.

Kara, our barn manager, handed me a list of horses to groom, so I started grooming. I kept filtering through the horses with Kara pointing me in the direction of my new acquaintances.

I grabbed Leto out of the stall and started grooming him, not thinking anything of it, and Kara made sure to tell me that he may be a little bad with his feet because he's only three... he's only three? I was shocked.

So what's the point of this little relapse into the past? It's to emphasize how well-mannered this young man is. When I hear the words "three, baby, green etc" past ex-racehorses that made my life miserable start flashing through my brain and it takes some time to steady my thoughts. So when I met Leto, I was pleasantly surprised.

This little true black gelding is a 2007 Westphalian/TB cross (American Warmblood) owned by Molly and her boyfriend, Bryce Kinnamon. He joined the Havarah team in the summer of 2010.

Molly's first encounter with Leto was at Roddy Strangs. He was there getting 30 days of training and Roddy had Molly take him out on a trail ride. She was sold over the first jump. According to Molly, Leto naturally has a super soft back in the air over a fence and a very balanced canter up to a jump. At three he was easier to see a spot on than many of her competition mounts.

It has been a pleasure to watch this little man grow. Leto was the low man on the totem pole out in the pasture. Luckily he's black, because he'd come in from turnout with a new bite mark everyday.

When we were down in Aiken, I really started to notice a change in Leto. Not only did all four legs start to work together beautifully, but he started to hold is own out in the field. I think the daily saying became "Dang Leto, way to hold your own bud!"

Although he toughened up enough to stand up to the older horses, he is still the sweetest to handle on the ground. Mostly, he starts to fall asleep while being groomed. Like all of our horses, Leto has learned to enjoy the Havarah grooms from an early age -it's like going to the hair salon and getting a shampoo and message daily.

Leto has just begun his Eventing career competing Beginner Novice at a few starter trials and competing in the Young Event Horse division in the past Waredaca.

Look out for an adorable, black gelding tied to Molly's trailer at shows. You will notice him instantly with his bushy forelock and big, curious ears.

Havarah's Charly. Period.

ARGH I was trying to save the best for last but I couldn't wait - sorry Charles but you know you are number one.

Quite honestly I don't even know where to start in describing Charly because, he is, the reason for everything. So maybe I'll just start from the beginning.

Molly was managing a barn back in California when she met Charly. He was one of many Hungarian Warmbloods they had shipped over to be re-trained into Event horses.

I think Charly noticed Molly before Molly noticed Charly. She says he was always watching her. Whether she was riding or giving lessons he would have his head out, watching - this caught Molly's attention.

Apparently, women were not allowed to ride this horse. In addition, he was dubbed the barn jerk. Luckily, Molly was able to convince his owner to fly out and watch – or chaperon – Charly and her first ride.

The rest is history. Molly formed the Minyan Syndicate and purchased this incredible athlete in 2005. It was Charly who led Molly to the East Coast. She knew they needed to venture out East for a season to gain more experience on different types of courses.

After winning the AEC at Prelim on Charly Molly decided to make her move permanent. She gave up an established business in Fresno, CA to break racehorses and scrub water buckets from 5 a.m. till noon.

Charly and Molly won the CIC** in the fall of 2008 and nearly won the CCI** at Fair Hill. This phenomenal horse allowed her the honor of being on the developing riders list in 2009 and allowed Molly to gain sponsorship and truly call herself a professional rider.

Unfortunately Charly injured his suspensory in October 2010 and has been rehabbing since.

OK. This is more of a round-about profile but if I didn't explain the history behind Molly and Charly's partnership then it would be hard to really understand how important this horse is.

Charly, Chuckles, or Chunky Monkey (as months on pasture rest have unfortunately warranted this nickname) is the man - and he knows it.

This is a very expressive horse and is definitely not void of personality. We joke that he is like a "frat boy". Being that Charly's daily routine went from world-class shows to stall and pasture rest, he got a bit bored. So, Charly's solution:

-get a rise out of Molly's working students by spooking at inanimate objects, or objects that don't exist
-pretend as though he was going to gallop around his field (when he's not supposed to run) to make the working students run out of the barn in a panic
-look cute in his stall so working students would come to pet him and then pretend he was going to bite those foolish humans

Hence the frat boy comment. It's very obvious that this is all a game to him, just trying to get a rise out of some girls. Plus, Charly LOVES Guiness... what Frat boy doesn't?

Lately, Charly has been very well behaved and lightened up on his trickery. Molly thinks it's because he's slowly being put back to work and knows that if he's good, he will get to jump soon (he loves to jump).

Beyond his personality, this horse just has a presence about him. Charly is a very smart, confident animal and everyone at Havarah is on edge waiting for him to jump back onto the Eventing scene.

Seneca Recap

We had four horses travel to Seneca Valley Pony Club HT yesterday: Ankhe, Benny, Rivan and Indie. This was Indie's first training and though he didn't bring home a ribbon he put in a great performance.

Benny brought home 6th in training as well and the other two put in solid tests.

Mostly I wanted to write a delayed welcome to Sophie and Andrew Hulme! The Hulmes are the wonderful owners of Principia Stables. They arrived last Monday and will be hanging around for another week!

Currently based out of California, Sophie rides with Dayna Lynd-Pugh and just finished 1st at Woodside on her Irish mare, Bally Quick Coin (Georgina).

Sophie has been spending her "vacation" riding with Molly and lending a hand as a Havarah groom. She easily fits into the Havarah team with her upbeat, positive attitude. You can tell a true horse girl when she goes on vacation and gets herself set up with work!

With each visit from the Hulmes it's hard not to start salivating when doing night check while Sophie's father, Andrew, is cooking up something delicious.

Being from across the pond, Andrew grew up with an amazing pallet which ends up spoiling working students like myself with pork ribs that have been smoked for four hours, marinated in an asian marinade for two, then baked for another two hours. YUM!

To the Hulmes: we enjoy your company immensely and look forward to all of your visits!

PUTTIN ON THE RITZ - "Benny"

PUTTIN ON THE RITZ, a horse named after the well-known Fred Astaire song, is better known as "Benny" and "Benoit". Benny is a 2005 Holsteiner/Hanoverian cross by Carlson.

Like his names suggests, Benny looks and acts the part of a great event prospect. He has good bone and a big heart. Before coming to Molly, Benny competed in local hunter jumper shows but ended up at Havarah because his owner, Alyssa Klavens, knew he would be happiest in the Eventing world.

He started his career with us in Aiken, SC and, from the start, showed a lot of promise. A solid jumper and confident cross country, Benny easily moved up from Beginner Novice to Training in just a few short months. He finished 6th at the Virginia Horse Trials in May and recently schooled the Prelim questions at Plantation Field this past week.

Molly has taken Benny over to True Prospect Farm for a couple of lessons and Phillip's response has been a positive one sparking excitement for us at Havarah. We are so excited that Alyssa brought Benny to Molly and now we have another great prospect in our program!

If you ask Molly's boyfriend, Bryce, Benny can do no wrong, and it's hard to disagree with him. This guy puts in a solid jumping performance every time out and he's got plenty of personality to make things interesting on a daily basis.

It's a running joke here at Havarah that Benny is the quarterback of our football team. We have a few beastly boys at the barn that make up the rest of the team. Benny kind of resembles that steady-eddy quarterback. Though not all of his plays score the memorable touchdown... consistency will get him that next first down.

R.I.P. Ben - "No Worries"

Ben "No Worries" was a very special horse, owned by Kathy and Quinn Anderson, who passed away Monday. Ben was a handsome, dark bay with the most beautiful eyes and I will never forget all that he has taught me. I'll always remember our first beginner novice together. He ran around the entire cross-country course with his ears pricked forward set on a mission to finish in record time. Ben was always happy to see you, just waiting to go out and get to work!

Ben taught me many important lessons while I had the wonderful opportunity to ride him. Ben will be missed by everyone for he was an incredible horse that brought joy to many people. I couldn’t have had a better experience! I would like to thank Ms. Kathy and Quinn Anderson for letting me ride Ben.

Riding for a Cause

We had a very successful cross country school yesterday at Plantation Field benefiting the True Prospect Fire Relief Fund.

Two of the three Connemara-eventing-machines, Archie and Indie, stepped out of their Novice comfort zones and jumped around Training questions like champs.

Molly's two Training horses, Benny and Rivan, showed enormous amounts of potential jumping up a level to Prelim.

Ankhe, who recently moved up to Training, had a couple of green moments but learned a lot and, being the solid citizen that he is, toughed it out for a good go.

Congrats to working student, Shadney Elwell, who schooled her mare Ella Training. They hope to move up from Novice to Training at the Maryland Horse Trials in July!

Our handy CWD rep., Andrew Goodwin, had a successful school on his handsome man, Beau.

Perhaps one of the brightest moments of the day was having Mr. John Nunn back in the saddle! His lovely horse, Smile Like You Mean It "Smiley", unfortunately was suffering from a sore back but is now rockin' and ready to go!

Unfortunately, among all the good there is some sad news. Two of our clients and owners, Kathy and Quinn Anderson, lost a beloved horse of theirs, Ben. Ben was a wonderful horse and teacher having taken Molly's working student, Hannah Metz, to her first recognized Beginner Novice event. It's never easy loosing a horse as they become part of our family, but our hearts and thoughts go out to Kathy and Quinn.

Plantation Starter Trials

Our apologies to interrupt the horse profile series here on the Havarah Blog site but we thought you all might want to know how our youngsters did today!

The Diesel Boy - Baby Leto - put on his big boy pants today and jumped like a superstar! Being only four, Leto is at the beginning of his eventing career and we have high hopes for him! He finished in 3rd for Beginner Novice Horse.

Hannah and Anna's Band had a successful second run. Hannah has been bringing her young thoroughbred mare along and after her second starter trials Anna is proving to look forward to the cross country phase most.

Quinn Anderson did very well on both her mounts: Google and Sprite, she got 4th on both! Look out for this girl and her dynamo ponies!

Jenn Nunn and her spotted mare Maiden had a wonderful dressage test scoring in the 20's.

Barb Strang competed her young four-year-old Judgement baby who is for sale and had a good go.

Last but not least is Hope, one of the newest horses in training with Molly. I believe this was one of Hope's first events and she shows much promise in this sport finishing 4th in Beginner Novice Horse!

The Havarah Team will be XC Schooling back at Plantation tomorrow and though we are going to gain some valuable experience on these rolling hills, we are more so looking forward to helping benefit the Fire Relief Funds for True Prospect Farm.

Sprite - The Wonder Pony

I remember walking the Preliminary course with Molly at the Pine Top Advanced event in Georgia this past winter thinking - Sprite is really going to jump these fences?? They are as big (if not bigger) than she is!

Sprite is a pony with the heart of a giant - and she can jump the moon!

This pony is the product of what happens when a very smart veterinarian needs to utilize a retired race horse and create a perfect horse for her little girl. She's a 2003 Palomino Connemara/TB Cross owned by the wonderful Quinn Anderson. Though Sprite (or Spritely as we call her) spends half of her time jumping tables the size of herself with Molly, the other portion of her life involves fox hunting and competing Beginner Novice with Quinn.

She definitely attracts a crowd as this mighty mare walks into a ring, ready to attack every fence. As she exits, Molly usually receives comments such as: "Wow, that thing can jump! Where can I get one of those?"

Watching Sprite jump is absolutely incredible. Envision an adorable ball of energy almost skipping to the base of a 3'6 fence and then out of nowhere shoots into the air like a spring. What's even more incredible is how easily she makes the distances... let's just say this girl doesn't have that typical, short pony stride.

Beyond her talents Sprite is probably the sweetest horse in the barn. She possesses that perfect, pony look that says "love me". Plus, between her big doe eyes, blonde eyelashes and the cutest whinny I've ever heard, she is the perfect kids pony - until you let her loose on a cross country course.

Quinn is our youngest owner at 13 years old, but she is smart about her pony's future and very passionate. When Sprite won a blue ribbon at a Sporting Days Combined Test in Aiken, SC the words "SHE DID!" could be heard very clearly from Molly's phone (it wasn't on speaker...).

Owning a remarkable pony isn't Quinn's only claim to fame, she is also a very talented rider. Look out for her at events this season on Sprite and her newest partner-in-crime Google!

Sabrina - The Super Model

Today's profile is Sabrina, a.k.a "Wonder Woman" a.k.a. "The Super Model".

Those of you who know this mare know that her ideal lifestyle would be to reside in a plush stall, overflowing with the finest of shavings (probably equivalent to a person who loves high thread-count Egyptian Cotton sheets) and be turned out in the lushest of pastures with a perfect patch for sunbathing. She would only be disturbed to have baby oil put on her nose and polish on her hooves for a photo shoot.

That's right. People legitimately come to our farm to shoot product, they take one look at Sabrina and all 25 other horses are no good - she is the only one they want to photograph.

Check out her picture modeling the Nunn Finer Brentina Bridle at Bit of Britain (and many other's that's just my favorite).

Despite being beautiful, Sabrina is also talented.

She's a 2002 Selle Francais out of Cor De Le Bryere breeding. Sabrina is owned by Alex Robertson and Molly Rosin and is currently competing at the one-star level with hopes of moving up to Intermediate soon!

Sabrina is one of those horses that just keeps going above and beyond our expectations. Sabrina came to Havarah in October of 2009 without much of any experience. After just one winter she started eventing in February of 2010 with a win, her career was onwards and upwards from there.

Preliminary is really where we started to see Sabrina perform like an upper level horse and she just placed 8th at the Virginia Horse Trials CCI*! Molly and this mare have really become a great team as Molly once again showcases her ability to ride all types of horses - including those sensitive know-it-all mares.

Thanks to Alex Robertson who, though being a fantastic dressage rider, realized this mare's passions may lie somewhere else. Because of him Molly was able to take Sabrina over and the sky is the limit from here!

Rivan - The Dressage Horse Turned Eventer

Because we center our lives around these animals, I thought they deserved a little credit.

Our fist profile is Rivan, and as you may have guessed by the title, his career plans have somewhat changed in the past year.

Rivan, owned by breeder Pamela Benfield and Stephen Brenner, is a 1998 KWPN Oldenburg Gelding by Contango.

He came to Havarah in June of 2010. After a small career in the dressage world Rivan seemed bored with staying in the arena. He came to Molly in hopes that he would find a new passion in life - and he definitely has.

Just like his father, Contango, Rivan is "happy, cooperative, intelligent and an inquisitive individual". His athletic ability is incredible and it's a pleasure to work with such an honest and willing individual.

Rivan has quickly moved through the levels since September 2010 where he competed at his first starter trial at Fair Hill. After winning his fair share of "blues" he moved up to novice and then on to training where he currently can be seen on the leaderboard.

Probably one of the most entertaining parts about working with these animals is watching their personalities develop. Rivan, who used to over-jump EVERYTHING just to make sure his tippy-toes did not touch one bit of fence now shows a lot of scope. His uncertainties about cross-country have been replaced by a victorious strut off the course.

When Rivan isn't gliding around a dressage arena (usually hitting it in the 20's) and cruising around cross-country and stadium courses, he enjoys being pampered by his favored groom: Hannah Metz.

This gentle giant could be dubbed one of Havarah's originals and we have high hopes for him in the future. You can bet he will be moving from Training Horse to Preliminary soon!

In addition I want to send much thanks to his owners, Pamela Benfield and Stephen Brenner. They both are extremely supportive of Rivan and Molly's endeavors and are happy that their horse enjoys his life and career. It has been wonderful working with owners who value Molly's program and enjoy watching Rivan excel in his Eventing Career.

That's where I come in! My name's Molly Gasiewicz (MJ to all those who know me here on the East Coast) and fortunately for all you Havarah Equestrian and Molly Rosin fanatics I'm going to be blogging ALL of Molly's updates and news for you all!

We apologize for any delayed news or lack of updates but hopefully with Molly's riding skills and my writing skills we can keep you in-the-know on a daily basis.

As you know, the horse world (more precisely, Eventing world) is constantly evolving and that's what makes this sport so exciting. Molly has gladly dedicated her life to these animals and their riders because it is the thrill of watching the two evolve as a team that brings her the most joy.

Molly's philosophy is a simple but important one: all horses and riders are different. Instead of trying to fit a horse or rider into a mold she prefers to tailor her training programs so both members of the team may succeed.

The horses of Havarah Equestrian, located at Principia Stables, are a perfect example of differences in personalities along with the working students who care for them on a daily basis.

To Google's new owner..... Quinn Anderson!

For those of you that have been following Google I thought I'd up-date you on my proud achievement of finding him a fantastic home within Team Havarah. I really am a "Google" fan, he's a horse and pony in one and I think all of us deserve one of those at some point in time~! I think Havarah's Charly is an over-grown pony and I'll always love him for his "Hony" like features.

Quinn has taken Google to one starter trial and will be doing there second at Plantation Fields this Sunday. Best of luck to this new team :)

The barn that Boyd Martin kept his evening horses in at True Prospect Farm caught on fire last night and 6 great horses were lost. 4 more are currently in ICU at New Bolton Center. This is such a tragic event and words can not describe the loss or feelings of any of these horses and owners, riders, trainers and friends.

Cheryl Gentzler- a favorite Havarah friend from Clovis, Ca recently purchased a great new horse!! "Denali" is a rising star that has been given as good of an up-bringing as anyone could ask for. Great care and beach rides from his now past owner, Dr. Liz Bracken.

Im happily sitting at my desk catching up on paperwork after a whirlwind week. We were all quite dissapointed to have the Plantation HT canceled due to an abundance of rain so last weekend when the forecast was looking awful for Fair Hill we all had knots in our stomachs. Luckily the storms were minor and the event ran as is and out of 6 Havarah horses we only lost one shoe in the mud!

Sabrina was entered in her first FEI event- she has really been coming into her own and Im getting very excited about her future. Her dressage and show jumping are still a work in progress on show day (pretty great in practice) but her cross country skills are right on. Mud in all this mare was brilliant on Saturday. We'll be working on the show anxiety for the first and third phase and looking to enter a CCI *.

Sprite is now fully deserving of the name wonder pony. The dressage has been on a steady progression at each show- the jumping is getting GREAT. Double clean xc and sj left her in 5th place in a large division of Open Preliminary. What an athlete :)

Rivan gave me the brilliant dressage test we all crave and is getting more and more trained in the jumping phases. After losing a bit of confidence at Southern Pines he had one stop on cross country but was very positive after that. This horse is so talented mentally and physically!

Benny aka Puttin On the Ritz, completed his first training level!! This horse is an exciting project for me, he was a bit mis understood in his past and I love that his owners have given us the oppurtunity to find him some happiness. So far this sport seems to be a great avenue for him.

Maddie Parisan and her very own Carson completed training level- Maddie is very young and VERY talented. I'm so proud of her hard work and progress, she was brilliant in the jumping phases and has a bright future to look forward to.

MJ and Ohlala finished the Preliminary and have improved so much. Both are very talented and have great spirit about them.

Thanks for all of our support crew this last weekend especially Hannah Metz. Hannah is the girl behind the gleam on the coats and the ears pricked forward. As a rider and trainer I've realized that the horses really need their girl on the ground, Hannah is that girl- the horses love her and I can't thank her enough for her thoughtfulness and thoroughness. We should have lots of videos and pictures available soon!

I'm a very happy girl about to tuck into bed and already of dreaming of riding Havarah's own "Sabrina" tomorrow morning in her first FEI event. This is a huge step for a young event horse, their first top class event and a ride in a "LARGE arena!!". Sabrina has only been eventing for just over a year, she's a real tryer and I can't wait to partake in her "BIG" weekend.

Beyond Sabrina this is just a big weekend. "Puttin on the Ritz" will be looking to do his first training level- he's a very promising handsome young event horse owned by Nancy and Alyssa Klavens. Along with him my young wise cracker Maddie Parisan is also looking into completing her first training. Best of luck to these guys!

MJ and her sassy mare Ohlala will be in Preliminary along with myself and the fantastic wonder pony Sprite. Rivan had himself a well deserved rest after a action packed winter and is coming back to try his hand at the training course.

One of the most exciting parts of the weekend is enjoying the company of Principia Stables owners- the Hulmes family. Andrew, Allison and Sophie are delightful, fabulous humor and character at all times.

It's official Havarah Equestrian is back in full swing at Principia Stables in Kirkwood, Pa.

We had a fabulous Sunday at the Fair Hill dressage show put on by Delaware Pony Club As a graduate pony clubber I love to attend these events as I know how much it helps out the clubs and their members.

Our horses and riders benefited from the time in the ring and the very valuable insight by the judges. Puttin on the Ritz tried his hand at his first training level dressage tests as he'll be moving up to training at Plantation this weekend. The Diesel Boy received a 1st and 2nd and is showing me that he really has as much potential as we all thought when we purchased him from Mousehouse Farm. Sabrina did some lovely Preliminary dressage tests and I'm thrilled to be getting her ready for the CIC * later on this month.

My students- John Nunn, Kim Parisan, Quinn Anderson and Jennifer Nunn all did extremely well.... go HAVARAH!

TODAY is amazing. First time since we've gotten home from Aiken that we've been able to take the horses "out". I now remember why I love it so much here in Kirkwood! Great ground, hills, woods, creeks and natural jumps all within one ride. Amazing.

Time flies in Aiken!

There has been so much going on here and every night as I crawl into bed I feel bad about not having up-dated my blogsite!

The Havarah crew has recently grown here in AIken- we have been having a great time with Barb Strang and John Nunn here getting in some spring training AND yesterday Quinn Anderson (owner of Sprite- the Palomino wonder pony) arrived to spend her spring break in sunny Aiken with us and her mount. MJ, Hannah and Maddie have survived the whole trip with me- and I have to say their riding is looking way way better. MJ heads out for her first east coast Preliminary this weekend- fingers crossed for her! Hannah and her mare will be starting their competitions together at home, but are doing great and Maddie will be rockin the Jr training division in Area II.

So if you haven't already seen our crew of horses- check us out at Pine Top this coming weekend and Southern Pines the following.

The three Conemarra/selle Francais/tb/Canadaian Hunter horses I have in to sell are doing great and will be at their first novice this weekend.

Today we took 12 horses over to Highfields to do some show jump course practice. This is the 2nd trip we've made and I can't believe the confidence it has given me, my horses and my students. I've realized that I don't ride enought show jump courses and am therefore too anxious in the show ring. By practicing with courses I've figured out some really good personal strategies and methods that I hope will help my competition riding.

Tomorrow we'll do flat work at the farm, Friday xc schooling at Full Gallop, Saturday and Sunday will be Pine Top. THEN Monday we pack up 11 horses to head back to PA while I keep 4 here for one more week!

As much fun as we're all having here I'm excited to see the rest of my students back in MD and PA and ALSO California!!

Thomson, Georgia holds a fabulous event that I was lucky enough to compete three very nice horses at this last weekend.

Sabrina, a warm-blood mare I've been training for the last year has officially moved up to Preliminary and become a very solid event horse. I'm so proud of her and the progress that she has made. This mare loves this sport.

Spite, a Connemara/TB cross owned by Quinn Anderson, is quickly becoming well known on the east coast for her crazy amazing jumping ability and her some-times equally wild antics. She's all that and then some :) Sprite jumped around the training level with ease and if the next two weeks go well, we will be trying out the Pine Top Preliminary course!!!

Rivan, a Contango son owned by Pamela Benfield, is new to eventing and has quickly moved onto training level. He is still learning the ways of the world for jumping but its seems very easy for him and his absolutely enjoys it. This training level had plenty of questions and he seemed to really take to the challege!

Competition in Aiken has started for Havarah!

The week isn't over yet and I've already been in 3 competitions on 11 horses and 4 rides by students. Oh yes, and a wonderful full day at GIBBES farm cross country schooling.

The first competition was at Sporting Days on Sunday- a schooling combined test. The second event was a recognized at Full Gallop and the third a schooling combined test again at Sporting Days. Saturday and Sunday we'll be at Pine Top in Georgia.

We have almost all the horses competing now- only Havarah's Charly and The Diesel Boy have been left at home, they will both compete within a few months, but right now they are enjoying living the life at Pine Ridge Stables!

Many of my horses are for sale, so if you see something at one of the events that you like let me know! :)

Wonderful start of our 2nd week in Aiken

To catch all of you up-to-date- week one in Aiken was slightly painful for me and lots of work for my three great helpers. I had a very blonde/clutsy moment walking down some too well cleaned wooden stairs at 3am in PA (getting ready to take the last set of horses to Aiken). My little feet were too excited to get on the road and I slipped and fell. Not wanting to stay for another storm I sucked it up and got on the road- all was good until I couldn't get out of bed the next day. Then the panic came that perhaps I broke something (it definitely hurt that bad). Long story short- I didn't. However, apparently bone bruising and muscle straining in your back and hip can really take an active girl out of duty for awhile.

I didn't stay off of the horses for long, but I do have to say I'm enjoying riding a lot more this second week!

In fact, I felt good enough today to pull out the BIG horse- Havarah's Charly. Chuckles was full of smiles as I showed him the sights around the farm and the great riding trails and track that we have. I don't know if his smile was the biggest or that of his helper, Hannah. (my smile was waiting until I knew I was safe back at the barn!) Chunky Monkey gave me a nice ride, enough pep to let me know he's feeling great but no overly bad behavior.

I've been getting some training help from the master himself, Phillip Dutton, on the younger horses and sales horses. Soon Charly and I will go together and get a proper good kick in the *** to get us back into proper winning form.

In 3 days we'll be in our first event of 2011!!!

After 3 days of driving and a bad slip down some slippery stairs- all 13 horses and all 4 of us girls have enjoyed a wonderful week of pleasant and sometimes sunny weather. Today is supposed to rain, but considering the amount of snow we're missing, I'm ok with a few showers!

I don't think I've yet given a full list of the Havarah team members that are here in Aiken, so I'll give a brief description of our Aiken crew.

Hannah- (long time working student and Havarah's Charly's personal assistant) Hannah is 15 and was granted permission for a full winter trip to Aiken. She is homeschooling so after the grueling hours working and riding during the day she comes home and opens the books. Hannah keeps us organized and together in the barn and at shows, we love Hannah!

Molly JR- MJ as she's known around the barn, is a college graduate and a new-comer to the east coast. This is her first season in Aiken and her first year as a Havarah team member. MJ has quickly jumped up the ranks and has fulfilled the position of Barn Manager as we had to leave Kara back in PA to take care of Principia Stables. MJ is doing a great job. Besides making sure the Havarah horses are fed on time MJ has a fancy little sportscar of a horse that she will be aiming at the Virginia CCI * in May.

Maddie- The newest and youngest Aiken Havarah girl is Maddie. At 12 years old she is taking on her first winter of home schooling and a full time position with us here in Aiken. She is a wonderful addition to our team, eager to learn and adoring of the horses. Maddies horse will come south for a few weeks and they'll start their competitive season at Plantation horse trials in PA.

AIKEN or bust!!

The last two years I've found myself incredibly lucky with very few winter "disruptions" en route to Aiken... our winter oasis.

This year was seeming no different, even easier... I have a lovely barn with an indoor and the horses have all gotten almost all of their normal turnout, riding and such. I learned that I could plug my truck in, which has made winter trips so far a cinch. I knew it was all too good to be true!

Today encountered some winter truck issues (solved now.. but frustrating and disruptive to the days plan) AND the house endured difficulty... water difficulty... water flooding difficulty. That too was handled and will NOT keep the voyage from beginning! Everyone's still in great spirits, just ready to begin driving!

The next was news that this week could have 2 feet of snow. Hmmmm that could make the trips on Tuesday and Wednesday difficult.. .but NOT impossible!

Aiken here we come :)

Clyde The Glyde Drexler- the newest mascot, and with Alex Robertson in Florida for the winter, Clyde has taken on the role of vocal entertainer. Luke and Sarah Allen of Waterford Farm, raise the best puppies I've ever seen, I'm a proud owner of a border terrier now :)

CONNEMARA's - New to Havarah Equestrian

I'd like to introduce two new exciting horses. Both of well breed Connemarra's and both athletic and handsome. These two horses have solidified my love for this breed.

Tux - 7 year old Connemara - the most natural jumper I've ever taken on and perfectly mannered and suited to become an adult amateur or junior champion. I think he could dominate in jumpers- but I hope to find him a home in the eventing community. i for see a training 3 day in his future ... very soon...

Archie- 7 year old Connemara- this horse is a solid 16 hands and you wouldn't think pony in any way when you see his natural suspension and incredible bascule over a jump. I believe Archie has the talent of a great eventer, he is fairly green at the moment but I believe in him and think he'll be 2011's rising star.

Both of these Connemara's are for sale and will be starting their competitive careers in Aiken.

Dr. Liz visits Principia Farm!!!

I love the east coast- but I will always miss the many wonderful people that have touched my life out on the west. Luckily, slowly but surely, I'm getting visits from many of my dearest friends and mentors.

Recently I've taken on the challenge and excitement of running a top class training facility in Kirkwood, Pa- www.principiastables.com - and so it was perfect timing to have my dearest friend Liz come out (she's a spectacular photographer for those of you that don't already know this).

Dr. Liz has always been there for me- she was my vet for many many years in California (still there just at the other end of a phone or keyboard) as well as one of my first equitation and life instructors.

Dr. Liz now spends a great deal of her time running www.eltiburoncasitas.com BUT still manages to make a huge difference in the life of less than fortunate horses. For this Liz was recognized and awarded a very prestigous award at the AAEP in Baltimore- this was donated to equine charities that she cherishes and helps regularly.

Molly Jr. -goodbye Colorado hello Pennsylvania

The fall of 2010 has brought a lot of great things to Havarah Equestrian and one is the addition of Molly Jr.

As you can see by her photo, she has the number one most important attribute of a working student- enthusiasm. Jr. recently graduated from college where she spent her spare time enjoying life to its fullest and once that stint of her life was over she went in search a good hard work- thus she moved out to Kirkwood, Pa :) Jr. had to take an equine break during her stint in college and from that realized that there's nothing she wants more than a life filled with our furry equine friends.

Jr. will stay in full training with Havarah Equestrian at least through the winter months in Aiken, Sc and upon her return back to PA will probably be searching out how to dwelve into the world of Equine Marketing.

Her and her beautiful mare, Ohlala, are learning swiftly and looking to move towards some exciting goals for 2011 and beyond.

Please look for Molly Jr at the events and help us welcome her to the east coast!

Principia Stables has a few stalls still available for winter boarding and the Havarah Equestrian horses leave January 24th for Aiken, Sc.

Young Sophie got hooked onto riding at a very early age. Watch out parents all over the world, one cute pony leads to a lifetime of equestrian lifestyle!

Sophie has grown up quite a bit and most recently gave "Georgina" a great confidence building weekend at Ram Tap in Fresno, Ca.

Andrew, Allison and Sophie Hulme own Principia Stables in Kirkwood, Pa but currently work and reside in California. The Hulme's have a great vision for Principia Stables and I hope to help make that dream come true for them.

CONGRATS goes out to Jennifer Nunn on not only starting and finishing her first Beginner Novice but RECIEVING a lovely red ribbon!!! This pair has worked very hard over the summer to develop a strong bond and Miss Jennifer worked pretty hard at getting stronger legs! Pony Club camp and some working student days at Principia Stables must've paid off :)

We had a really great day overall-
Lynn Fern had a reunion with eventing, first time out in 10 or so years (not an exact count, but it's been awhile!). The Red Baron remembered all about the sport and the two of them looked pretty polished. I'm very proud of "Rudy" as he started the sport with me and I told him that it's now his responsibility to make sure his mother has "FUN". I think he came through.
Bryce Kinnamon has been doing the weekend warrior eventing training to the max (he cheats a bit and comes out on Wednesday's as well). He took a very green BIG TB from spooky to bold in just a couple of months. The last cross country schooling we did before Plantation nearly brought tears to my eyes wathcing this team crusie around like an Intermediate combo, impressive is all I have to say. On the day of the event, dressage still matters, and that is still a work in progress... but if it was a show about jumping, they'd have won!
Last but not least my colorful ride was a blast. Kristine Strecker's "Harmony" came out for a tune-up before Kristine takes over the competition reins next season. Harmony is a colorful Irish Paint mare and is a saintly soul at a young age. However, she hasn't done much competing and did get a bit tense before the dressage as a herd of bright green bikers came flying by. She pulled herself together for a decent test and was a gem over the jumps, one rail down...oops.

GOOGLE is proudly owned by a VERY tall dressage rider who leaves for Florida in a few days. Google had a quick introduction back into work with me and we produced a very short video of the little champ. This pony is sturdy and adorable, the true look of a great child's eventer. I say that because I like him and I like eventing, but I'm sure he'd be good at hunting and all sorts of other sports.
